3 vacancies for project with Minors in Spain
The project activity will be centred upon the support to educators in the management and mobilization of all aspect of children's lives, promoting their abilities and searching the needed resources for their development, independence, understanding of reality, and the endowment of keys for developing their life, in addition to coordinating all resources and institutions that have to do with the child and his family in order to create support projects favouring the end of their stay in the Foundation and the return to their own environment.
The project will be carried out in one of the homes of the organisation. Each volunteer will collaborate in one of them.
The
volunteer will be integrated in the daily life of one of the homes
where children aged between 0 and 18 live (they live in homes until
they are 18, approximately). The entrance requirements can be diverse,
and are always valued by Social Services and the Minor Institute.
VOLUNTARY ACTIVITIES
Activity time: Maximum of 35 h./week; mainly in the afternoon, though this may change depending on the needs of the project.
Activities:
-Take or bring children to/from school: take them to other activities
(extra-curricular, birthday parties, other); Support children with
their home work.
-Play with the children
-Accompany children in daily activities: meals, showers, brushing teeth, organisation of rooms and clothes...)
-Form part of the educational team, participating in team meetings and providing ideas.
Volunteers may participate with other activities, such as any
workshops: handicrafts, sports, specific subjects,... and participate
in the yearly thematic axis of the organisation.
Every year, there is a thematic axis. Last year, we had the Jacob's
Way, the River Duero, Man throughout History, Stories... We worked with
cultural activities, workshops and at the end of the year we did a
trip. Volunteers can participate providing ideas, preparing some
culture parts (example: the Jacob's Way, what it is, its way, who
participates, who participated earlier, why we do it... ) or in the
workshops (handicrafts with mud, leather, recycled material...),
proposing and planning trips,... all ideas they have are welcome and
may be discussed with the team.
C. PROFILE OF VOLUNTEERS AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS
The volunteers will be chosen by the sending organization and the host
organization, and/or the host organization. They will asset the
availability and characteristics of the individual volunteers.
The volunteers will read carefully the project and the organizations
will help them so that they can choose the project that best matches
their interests and concerns.
On the part of the volunteers a specific focus on social themes is not
necessary, but a personal attitude marked by the believe in individuals
and their capacities is necessary, as well as a commitment to their
activity and to collaborating in their team.
