Austrian Youth Project I-MOTION has one free place for EVS volunteer
Austrian Youth Project I-MOTION has one free place for EVS volunteer
The main aim of I-motion is to revitalise the neighbourhoods and to intensify the contacts among the neigbours.
The youth Coordination of the city of Wörgl is a organisation within
the city council, which coordinates several youth projects with
different focuses. The volunteers will have the possibility to choose
in which project they want to participate or to work on several
projects at the same time. This is up to the volunteers to decide,
depending on their preferences and interests.
The role of the volunteers will be to support the staff working in the
projects, to make contact to the young people in Wörgl and to create
and develop own projects, workshops or activities within existing
projects. The volunteers will not replace paid staff, much more they
will provide additional activities in the projects. The volunteers help
us to expand the intercultural dimension of youth work an give young
people the possibility to practice their foreign language skills. The
volunteers offer our clients an insight in other youth cultures, as
well as trends and interests of young people in foreign countries.
Volunteers are a partner and connection between young people, the local
community and the staff, but they are clearly members of the staff and
participate in all meetings and activities like supervision or team
building measures.
Activities of the volunteers:
Event centre "KOMMA" is a important culture facility in the city of
Wörgl. We are organising different cultural events, mostly for young
audience. This events are concerts, cabaret, theatre, etc. Beside the
organisation of the events, we also rent the facility for different
activities. The volunteers will have the opportunity to support the
manager in all activities like processing the events from the idea to
execution and finalisation. The volunteer is also invited to support
our marketing activities. Here they will get an introduction and work
on updating the homepage, make posters and flyers together with our
designer, communicate with journalists and make press releases.
During the events a central issue is the catering and take care for the
artists. Here the volunteers can organise the food supply and look
after the artists, so they have a professional support. We can benefit
from volunteer´s knowledge of foreign languages, because many bands and
artists are coming abroad. Through this activities the EVS volunteers
will make many contacts to other young people in Wörgl, but also to
other institutions which are settled in the region which will quicken
the integration to the local community.
InfoEck-Jugendinfo Tirol in Wörgl: The youth information centre is a
place where young inhabitants of Wörgl and of the whole region can get
various information, from the education to the leisure time. Our
employees are making researches and they are forming the information,
so the target group can deal with it. Our target group are young people
between 13 and 30 years of age, looking for information about school,
study, travel, voluntary work, sexuality, leisure time, au pair, etc.
The volunteers will assist in research and transforming the information
and in front office, in direct contact to the clients. The volunteer
can use his intercultural competence and his own EVS service to make
the information about foreign countries or voluntary work more plastic
for the young people. It is also a place where young people come to
read newspapers or to surf on internet. This is always a good
possibility for intercultural dialogue, so the local youngsters will
have direct information about youth culture in a foreign country and
the volunteer can experience the local culture. The mobility of our
clients is not extremely high and the foreign volunteer is for sure a
good example to animate the youngsters to participate in different
mobility programs, so they also can experience the stay in another
country. Working in the front office will help the volunteer to
integrate into the local community, because he/she will work with young
people of similar age and it will be easier to make friends.
There will be also different projects beside the daily work and the
volunteers are welcome to present their ideas and to work on this
projects. Such project could be the "European Youth Week".
Youth Centre: in the youth centre we take care for young people between
13 and 19 years of age. We try to let teenagers feel secure in our
centre and offer them different possibilities to spent their free time.
We offer games like table top football or table tennis, but also a free
access to the internet and they can play their own music. Beside this
the young people get support from professional staff in case of
different problems (drugs, job, sexuality, family issues, etc.). As
well we organise outside the youth centre as "open youthwork" different
activities, f.e. biking, hiking, games, etc.
The youth worker in the Youth Centre are not educators, who are
telling the youngsters what they have to do and how to manage the life.
We see ourselves as companions through the adolecence and as critical
helpers, who look for a open and personal contact with the youngsters.
The youth centre is open to everybody regardless to the origins,
nationaliti or confession of the young visitors.
But open still means to follow the rules and to ensure a save
coexistence of different youngsters with different backgrounds in the
youth centre. The rules in the house are based on the learning the
respectfor the youthworkers and other visitors.
TASKS AND ACTIVITIES
- We try to give our visitors offers according their desires. They can
play different parlor games, billiard, tabletop football, playstation,
listen to the music, watch films or just sitt around. The volunteer
will accompany our visitors, while they are in the youth center and
she/he will work with them on building groups to create new activities
for and with the youngsters.
- The volunteer will have the possibility to organize and arrange different tournaments like football, dart, Table tennis, etc.
- There is also an opportunity to accompany gender specific project or to make workshops within those projects
- One of the elements of the youth culture is music and everything what
goes together with the music. We are offering to our youngsters plenty
of musical and dance events, so the volunteer will have chance to
organize and manage those events together with other staff members and
young people. The highlights ate parties, DJ workshops, Dancing
courses, etc.
- To keep the youngsters busy not just indoors we have a lot of outdoor
action. This are events like snowboarding, skiing, high rope, different
excursions. Depending on volunteers preferences she/he could take the
responsibility for some of this events.
Youth Project I-MOTION: The main aim of I-motion is to revitalise the
neighbourhoods and to intensify the contacts among the neigbours. The
participants in this project are young people who are willing to work
for couple of hours in the week to get some additional pocket money.
They actually don´t get the cash, but vouchers as a gesture to say
thanks for their services. Those services can be gardening, to clear
the yard from snow, to help other children with their homework, go
shopping for elder people. After they get the voucher they can change
them for different services, like cinema or different shops in the
city. Our volunteer will not take part in this project as our
youngsters, he /she will support our management.
The tasks for the volunteers will be:
- support the project management in daily routine
- to manage the offers for young people, which means to make contacts to private households, organizations and social facilities
- to make contact to young participants and to make "job" offers to them
- PR activities
- to organize and to carry out different workshops
- to make the documentation of current activities
This project is very interesting because the activities are very
various and the volunteer will actually never have some routine. Beside
this I-motion project has a very deep impact on the local community and
is very well known. Through the EVS we will internationalize it. To run
this project we need many strong contacts to institutions and private
persons, so the volunteer will have a really deep insight into the
local culture. On the other side this contact will help to improve the
knowledge of the German language and to accelerate the integration into
the local community.

director and the coordinating organisation.
The volunteer will have the possibility to contact any of these persons if he or she has any questions.
The mentor is responsible for all personal issues and the integration of the volunteer in the local community.
The managing director will take care for all professional questions.
The coordinating organisation is going to be a partner for the
volunteer in overall issues concerning the project. (Keep in touch with
the volunteer, with the sending organisation, organising monthly
meetings for volunteers, stay up to date to the project progress, etc.)
The volunteer will also take part in PDT and OAT and will be very good
prepared for the service and all rights and duties the volunteers have
will be known before the project starts. Beside this the volunteer will
be accompanied by the SO all the time.
The volunteer will be instructed in all necessary methods and information concerning risk prevention in our house.
The volunteer will receive an informal tour through our town so he/she gets to know some nice places.
The volunteer has the chance to take part in supervision and in certain trainings which are offered for the staff in general.
