The idea of the project is to run a cultural club for young people in Yerevan and in 10 regions of Armenia. The project will start in Yerevan and then follow in the regions. The club will be run for one month in each place. In general, the aim is to promote intercultural dialogue by using the common interests (heritage, culture, traditions, nature, sport, leisure) of young people in Armenia and in volunteer’s own country.
The Objectives to achieve are in our opinion:
-
promote understanding, valuation of similarities – understand that background, culture have a role in our life, in shaping young people’s outlook
-
to reflect on attitudes, emotions, understating towards our everyday life and to learn the same from peers
-
learn to respect and like diversity
-
stressing the importance of intercultural learning and tolerance
-
promote the understating of respect as a rule for coexistence
-
give a chance to practically touch, come in close contact with other culture, use youth work to observe differences in culture of other
We would like to give a young volunteer from a foreign country a chance to learn about our country, culture, youth and our organisation, help the volunteer to form his/her own private opinion about intercultural learning interference, get new knowledge about the concept identity, get more self-confident by analyzing the local heritage.
The project will be run in the capital and in all 10 regions and this will also give chance getting know the specific and identity of culture in different geografical areas even in such a small country as Armenia is. In the same time local young people who will be involved and participated in the project can also expirience intercultural learning.
