PROJECT ENVIRONMENT

Old Town Children's Day Care Centre is situated near the center of Kaunas, everybody can go to their workplace by bus. Our institution is near the Kaunas castle, which is surrounded by two rivers. There is enough place to create, play active games. There is closed place for playing ouside also near our building. The day centre has good sport equipment and posibilities to educate children. In the Old town there are a lot of art galeries, where is presenting different exhibitions. The inetnsive culture life are allways arranged in the Centre hall.


ACTIVITIES

The staff and volunteers of the Centre is trying to involve children in various recreation activities or games in order to promote their self-esteem and help them integrate into society. Our aim also is to help the children with health and self-care.
Volunteers lead the sport activities, help to do their homework. They can educate children how to communicate with each other. Sometimes good relationship helps to solve some problems: children like to talk about themselves with people who they trust.
Volunteers help for social worker to visit families, to access the living environment, to visit schools and organize a different kind of games (mental and physical) with social pedagogic. Volunteers will get the experience of group organizing ( for example, art, music, dance groups).


PROFILE OF VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers should have interest in their work with children. We wait volunteers, who have innovated ideas, how to work with children in group of risk. Of course, work with such children needs flexibility and systematic view.
We expect volunteers with all the kind of experience, but prefer to work with volunteers, who have work experience with children in risk or are inetersted in such work specific.
We would like to work with volunteers, who are responsible, flexible, cooperative.
