Cultural House for Children from Denmark has one EVS free place
The aim of the project is to create "meetings" between different kinds of cultures of children and make them understand the difference.
Project environment:
Nicolai for Børn is situated in the center of Kolding city. Kolding is
a Danish seaport located at the head of Kolding Fjord in Region
Syddanmark (Region of Southern Denmark). It is the site of the council
Kolding Municipality. It is a transportation, commercial, and
manufacturing centre, and has numerous industrial companies,
principally geared towards shipbuilding. The manufacturing of machinery
and textiles and livestock export are other economically significant
activities.
With a population of c. 86,000, the Kolding municipality is the seventh
largest in Denmark. The city itself has 55,596 inhabitants (2008).
Kolding is famous for its design school - a progressive and
internationally oriented school that plays its part in putting Danish
design and design competency on the world map. Designskolen Kolding is
one of the leading Danish design institutions, with a long tradition
for educating some of the country's best designers who go on to work in
both national and international contexts.
Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:
The volunteer will work together with local professional artists and
designers and learn from them. He or she will also learn about
projectmanagement. We also offer a good network with a lot of creative
and enthusiastic people.
In the future we will be working on a special project called "Childrens culture and integration"
The aim of the project is to create "meetings" between different kinds
of cultures of children and make them understand the difference. It is
also a meeting with professional art and culture. The participants of
the project are children between 2 and 12 years old.
The project takes its start in the culture house "Nicolai for Børn, but will also tour in the southern part of Denmark.
The volunteer will take part in this project as well as in the daily
work in the culture house. The tasks of the volunteer can be both
administrative and practical according to the interest, abilities and
qualifications of the volunteer.
Host family
AFS will provide a host family for the volunteer. The life in a host
