ENVIRONMENT

Vilnius Residential House for children on is situated in Antakalnis district in Vilnius. There is quite comfortable connection within the local transport. Just infront there is a busstop. Close to the Residential House for children there are other educational institutions like Vilnius special educational center "Aidas", kindergarden "Lakshtingala" and orphan house "Gile". Residential House for children cooperate with "Aidas" and "Lakshtingala" and pensions foster-children attend "Aidas" center. Vilniaus Residential House for children itself is surrounded by nature, forests and there is no industrial buildings.

ACTIVITIES FOR VOLUNTEER
 Volunteers would help in the groups of children to organise diverse activities, like:
-to help children and youngsters to develop social skills;
-to broadwide children and youngsters aknowledments about the Europe and world in general;
-to stimulate to initiate cooperation and communication between other people.

The volunteers will work with social worker and with social worker assistant because many children have hard level of disability, some of them cannot speak or hardly communicate bacause of the reason of cerebelum apoplexy. In general children in our pension are very friendly and always possitevly meet support and friendship from others. They alway accept suport and smiles from other people.

Also volunteers could accompany children to theatre, different trips, excursions around the city. They could participate with children in the summer camps, being children assistants and supporting them with daily care (to help to dress-up, to draw with a child, to make handicrafts, to sing, to dance, to make sports together, watch movies on TV and cinema).
Preliminar scedule of the volunteer:

Monday - Friday
14:00 - 16:00 Activities and games with children, sport games
16:00 - 17:00 Other activities
17:00 - 18:00 Drawing, music listening

Saturday - Sunday
10:00 - 14:00 Excursions to the theatre, cinema, concert

VOLUNTEERS PROFILE

We would very appreciate if young volunteer speak english (or german, russian languages). It would facilitate a lot working staff communication with the volunteer. We think that to find a common communication language and understand each other will be a great approach for both. It will fascilitate coordination of the volunteer in our pension environment as well.
Volunteers will have their room where they can dress-out jackest, can have a rest, to drink coffee or tea with cookies on the breaks.
