Our organization was found in 2005 with the aim to reinforce and expand idea of voluntary service in Vilnius city and areas. Since first day we work with people searching what voluntary work is. EVS program help us to do it. Before work with EVS founders of Social Action could only offer host organizations here in Vilnius for those who live in Vilnius.

When we got to know EVS wider opportunities appeared for the people we work with. Now we can not only work with Lithuanians in Lithuania, but we can help them to go abroad to get stronger experience. A part of volunteers who come back from their voluntary service stay close to our organization and help us to work on our mission.

We have a programme "Youth Social Year" in Vilnius (this program was born in Germany) - here come people of age 16-25 who want to know what voluntary work is. We offer them several social organizations which needs volunteer. They choose one place and start their work. Volunteers contract to work 4 - 6 hours in chosen organization, they also have group meeting once per week were they can reflect their experience and also live in a group, which is very often new experience for them. There are also 3 seminars per year which helps to get closer as friends, to go deeper to experience and to see what you've learned from your voluntary work.

So our main and the only target group is young people, most of them already students.
