Project environment: profile of the organisation and local community

We are living in a small village and we are trying to get a living environment. By doing this on a very basic way we can use a lot of helping hands. By working to gether with SBB (Staats Bos Beheer) and the schools in the region we are trying to make our enviroment and the living for the animals and the plants more natural.
We ask respect for people, animals and environment. The work that has to be done has to have a learning effect. Sometimes it can be boring but together with other people easely fixed.

Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
Helping us and our farm(animals). Learning how to farm in a ecological way and how to create a multy functional agriculture.
Helping with all the possible tasks; feeding, work at the field, looking after the animals, help prepare/talking/assisting with the visiting groups, making stock for the winter food for the animals and wood for the oven. The EVS volunteers in this way will become a true member of the farm community.
- Help feeding / taking care of all the animals
- Help with field works cutting by tractor
- Help with the work in the vegetable garden
- Help preparing for groups that come visit the farm accommodation
- Help giving guidance to the children that are visiting
- Help creating educational activities for the children and youth
- Help supporting the elderly that are visiting
- Maybe make a PR plan for asking groups from their country (of the EVS volunteer) to come to the farm accommodation
- Maybe create new activities for the farm accommodation
- …… what has to be done in time……

Volunteer profiles and recruitment process
People who are:
- close to nature
- like work with animals
- like to talk with people
- like to explain / educate groups
- young people who think they like us
- thinking in solutions and not in problems.
We are right now advertising in the ECEAT guide. The people who read and search in those types of brochures are the people we want. Close to nature and carefull for people.
We will work together with Code-X International. We trust them in a fair, open and transparent recruitment process, as they give access and guidance for all youth interested in EVS.
We don't have requests for sending organisations. We trust Code-X International to work with good sending organisations, who will sent the right volunteers for Stifting Wurkgroep Butengebiet Droegeham.

Special needs
As our foundation works with youth and elderly with fewer opportunities we are also open to work with volunteers with fewer opportunities. We are willing to provide the facilities the volunteer would need. The volunteer only has to be aware of the fact the main work will take place at the farm. For this reason we will not be able to take volunteers that are disabled in a way that this could be a problem. Also we do not have time to guide for volunteers who suffer from social difficulties, as we do not expect to have enough time to support them emotionally.

Risk prevention, safety and protection
The group of people that are visiting our farm needs lot of extra care and therefore I see the risk and try to prevent them. We have made a risk inventarisation (voor ARBO) and because there are people sleeping at our farm the fire brigade checks everything too.
