Elderly care project from Austria is looking for EVS volunteer
The volunteer will get the opportunity to improve his/her acceptance and perception of the aging process, to share the experience of life with the elderly, an the chance to get famliliar with the variaty of jobpossibillities within a professional institution for the elderly.
A. Project environment: profile of the organisation and local community
" Outline the project environment for the suggested voluntary
activities, including the local community where the project will take
place (e.g. geographical, social and economical environment).
The project will be started within the "Senioren Residenz Mirabell", a
sheltered resident center serving senior citizens who desire a high
quality of service, comfort and security, as well as independence. The
project of "personal day-care service" should target residents of the
recidence, as well as local elderly residents of the city of Salzburg
and their family members. This service should be offered by licensed
and especially educated care and nursing employees within a special
designed and equipped area of the "Senioren Residenz Mirabell".
" If the host placement is located in a live-in community, please
include the rules and conditions that apply also for the volunteer.
The volunteer will live in a students house in the center of Salzburg with shared bathroom and kitchen.
B. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
" Describe what you can offer to volunteers in terms of service and learning opportunities.
The advantage for the volunteers will be, that they get the opportunity
to improve their acceptance and perception of the aging process, to
share the experience of life with the elderly, an the chance to get
famliliar with the variaty of jobpossibillities within a professional
institution for the elderly.
" Please, explain what will be the role of EVS volunteers in the host organisation.
Volunteers will be assisting the regular staff in planning and
organizing the daily structure of activities and to accompany residents
through theese activities.
Describe the activities in which the volunteers could be involved and
the activities the volunteers could create in your organisation. Give
examples of typical activities for the volunteers.
Activities in which volunteers may be involved for example are:
To compile the biography of residents, to prepare different themes for
- and to take part in discussion groups, creative design, games, "brain
jogging", planning and organizing and acommplishing seasonal parties
and themed parties, to accompany residents to different excursions.
Working hours will be agreed with the volunteer - and could be Monday to Friday about 6h/day.
C. Volunteer profiles and recruitment process
Please describe the profiles of volunteers you would like to receive in
your organisation. Include information on how you ensure an open and
transparent recruitment process as well as the overall accessibility of
EVS to all young people. Consider further information about the type of
sending organisation you want to cooperate with. This information can
help the match-making between volunteer candidates, sending
organisations and your organisation.
Volunteers should be open minded with human skills, able and willing to
communicate, interested to discover the experience and wide knowledge
of the older generations, the environment requests a certain
appreciation towards the elderly.
Our coordinating organization is in a network of sending and hosting
organizations for EVS in Europe and tries to involve volunteers from
those organizations. Since the partners know each other well, they can
help select the volunteers and suggest them to us - so that each
volunteer may find the best suitable project - also our project.
D. Special needs (if applicable)
If your placements are open to hosting volunteers with fewer
opportunities, please provide information about the competence,
experience and infrastructure and (human or other) resources available
in your organisation to accommodate and support them.

E. Risk prevention, safety and protection
Please describe how you will guarantee a safe living and working
environment for the EVS volunteers, how you will prevent risks and
crises and how - in the case of EVS volunteers aged 16 or 17 - you
ensure appropriate supervision, child safety and protection.
Humanocare is able to guarantee a safe working environment by giving
adequate instructions at the beginning, as well as "training on the
job" through an especially designed tutor during the complete voluntary
service. A mentor will guide the volunteer throughout the project.
The local coordinating organisation of "Akzente International" is
responsible for housing, local transport, language course and other
administrative issues and will guarantee safe living conditions and
regular standards.
