EVS Ecology and citizenship in Finland
EVS Ecology and citizenship in Finland
-To prevent social exclusion amongst the teenagers in Peltosaari-area and to give opportunities for young people from Riihimäki to be active citizens by participating. -Working together with a local Peltosaari-area project the volunteer will build growing stands for plants and vegetables. -To teach youngsters think ecologically, give them meaningfull tasks and guide them to appreciate their environment
-Looking for a social, preferably
English-speaking young person. Work experience or education with
teenagers is preferable but not necessary. Knowledge about
farming/planting/cropping is a definite plus.
Important! The legal criminal record is required by the Finnish law, if you work with children or young people.
Hopefully we'll get applications and fast (and I do mean FAST), because the time is running out.
The selection procedure is quite simple: we'll check the CVs and contact the most suitable person.
-The volunteer will be an equal worker in
our organization. Besides the city farming-project, other tasks are:
-to promote EVS-program for young people
-normal youth work (open door-activities, music- and other events)
-Working hours approx. 30 h/week with usually free weekends
City farming, weeding, watering,
harvesting... To inspire local youngsters and parents for more
ecological thinking and appreciation towards their own naighbourhood.
But
also "real" youth work in youth clubs, events etc. Promoting the
EVS-program (and your home country) will be one of the tasks as well.
