EVS for a community center in Germany
EVS for a community center in Germany
Our field extends to many different activities, beginning in the care of children via the work in the cafeteria up to computer-courses for seniors. There will be a Midday-lunch for single-living people, grandfather-handicraft-meetings and many other groups, where the old one learn something from the youth and the young one learn something from the senior citizens.
Saerbeck is a small place in the near of the cities Münster and
Osnabrück (approx. 30 km in the distance) with its wide-ranging cultural
offers. Saerbeck lies in the near of the international airport
Münster/Osnabrück. Among other free-time-activities like riding horses,
playing golf, go hiking is also a big sport offer in clubs very popular.
Saerbeck is, what one can understand with the word "village". An
accumulation of houses, which haven´t blocked the look to the landscape
around yet. An assembly of people, who are still having the look for
the nature and the neighbours. In short: A municipality, where
solidarity and community still count.
This solidarity and community is the basic for a well working
Multi-Generation-House. The Kolpingfamily Saerbeck e.V. will adopt from
207 on the multi-generation-house, which is supported by the federal
family ministry. The municipality of Saerbeck is renovating the "old
townhall", in which the MGH will be placed.
Every day young and old people of our municipality meet there, to take
up the different offers. The four life-ages Childhood/ Youth, adults,
adults about 50 years and senior citizens can teach other generations
and also learn something of them. They are offering offers, which
relieve and move something, they help each other beyond the boundaries
of their own generation. The division of labour between profis and
layman, full-time working people and honorary working people, old and
young people is created and it promises a high efficience.
In the Multi-Generation-House all activities of the Kolping-family
Saerbeck, which had taken place at several places because of the lack of
spatial possibilities, will be bundled and developed. Meeting place
will become the Café "Four seasons", in which guests from the outside
can meet the participants inside the Kolping-groups and the educational
work. Here also the additional offers are to be applied
B.
In the multi-generation-house all generations should have the
possibility to meet each other in different activities. The occupation
of an EVS-volunteer in the project would underline the openness of the
meetingcentre.

of the house.

C.
The volunteer should be open-minded and have fun in working with younger
and elder people. Special knowledge in some working areas would be
good, so he could actively bring in himself into the group-events. Basic
knowledge in the german language would be nice, but not necessary. The
volunteer should be able to work in a team and also on himself and he
should have the encouragement to make own ideas becoming real.
E.
The local hosting organization provides an appropriate accommodation
possibility for the volunteer in Ibbenbüren in a dwelling, which 5
volunteers are sharing or in the accommodation of the clinical center
Ibbenbüren. Here the volunteer has its own room, kitchen and a bath are
common rooms, which are available for several persons.
The tutor of the project meets the volunteer periodically in order to
accompany progress and to help the volunteer with the solution of
probably arising problems. Additionally the tutor guarantees the receive
of continual support for the volunteer.
Volunteers receive each necessary support for the realization of their tasks and enough time to get into the new job.
During the integration in the local district and the project surrounding field the volunteer will be supported.
The co-ordinating organization ensures that the volunteer participates in the on-arrival-training and the mid-term-meeting.
EVS- volunteers receives an appropriate language training during their
stay, which is organized by the coordinating organization.
Co-workers of the co-ordinating organization look after the volunteer
and will take care. They are also organizing meetings, which take place
every 4-6 weeks, where all volunteers of the region meet each other. In
