The volunteer works 35 hours per week.
The Jugendbildungsstätte Unterfranken (Jubi) is located on the outskirts of Würzburg. This district is distinguished through a high rate of inhabitants with migrational background. The Jubi with its intercultural focus is in close contact to vary clubs, schools and organisations and accompanies them in questions of cross-cultural opening, moral courage, cross-cultural qualification and international meetings. These offers the Jubi provides, as well as the program during the year with different program-tips and actions are open to every club, school and organisations not only in Würzburg but in the whole region. Through this the Jubi is connected into a network with various organisations, structures and actions. Würzburg itself is a university-city with 150 000 inhabitants, with a manifold culture- and pub-scene and many festivals
Trough the manifold offerings at the Jubi there are a lot of
possibilities to bring in oneself and to learn according to abilities
and skills.
The volunteer will work partly(50%)in the house-organisation and partly
in the padagogical area. The tasks of house-organisation are to work at
the reception desk, telephone service, welcoming and service for the
guests, assistance in the food servery in the canteen and in drinks

In the pedagogy they will learn the pedagogical concept of the house and
they will get involved in the various offers of Jubi. This can mean the

the volunteer are supposed to work sometimes in the evening(until 20.00)

Furthermore it is important that the volunteers are able to bring in
their own abilities. It depends on the resources of the volunteers
whether these abilities e.g. technical or artistic skills fit into the
frame of house or landscape design or other skills which can be useful
in the field of organisation. The volunteer is a definite part of the
Jubi-team, that means he or she is involved in all relevant team
meetings, team conferences, preparation meetings, evaluations and so on.
The Jubi-team is a very young team; most of the members have a
migrational background. Due to this condition the volunteers with their
non-German background and potential language problems are not
exceptional. In this case the slogan of the Jubi-team "joint
cross-cultural experience and learning" is program and offers various
possibilities to the volunteers to get involved. They will particpate in
the Qualification "Coach for intercultural Work" and they will finish
it with the certificate. According to their skills and interests they
have the possibility to take part in different pedagogical areas.
The Jubi does not have precise images of qualifications or skills the volunteers should bring along. It is important that the volunteers are open and willing to get involved with the occurrences and to go along with the processes in the team. Willingness to bring in one's own abilities and skills is fundamental.
The volunteer is not only involved in the project and works there in a team but also integrated into a network of volunteers; they are all doing EVS in and around Würzburg. Regularly there are meetings with all volunteers offered by the coordinator; there is the early possibility to talk about potential problems at the project regarding culture, habitation, design of independent life, homesickness and different matters. For this purpose methodical offers are given. Through this it is feasible to recognize and work on problems in an early stage prior an escalation. The coordinator is reachable almost every time so the volunteers always have a contact partner outside the project in situations of a crisis. Due to obligatory supervision it is not possible for the project to host volunteers under the age of 18.
The Jugendbildungstätte Unterfranken (Jubi) deals with a main focus on
the content of intercultural learning and experience. This main focus
enfolds the complete arrangement of program starting at the conception
to the point of learning and experiencing within the multicultural team.
From this the wish to get involved with EVS followed and 2004 the first
volunteer was hosted. .
Last years´ experiences with volunteers confirmed this wish. Through the
cooperation with the volunteers it became obvious that the volunteers
are able to bring in their individual abilities and skills into the
institution so perfectly and are able to benefit from the useful project
experiences Since 2007 the Jubi is also a sending organitions(40
volunteers have been sent since 2007) and it coordinates several
projects ot the hosting organisations.
The Youth Education Centre in Lower Franconia (Jubi) is an organisation, working intercultural with a nationwide model character.
