A. Project environment:
Wroclaw, the capital of Lower Silesia is both one of the oldest and of the most beautiful towns in Poland.
Wroclaw's guests remember her mainly as a lively cultural centre and a
unique city. Double identity - Polish and German, borderland
traditions, Czech, Austrian, and Jewish traditions put influence on the
center's character. These days the municipality prepares to the UEFA
EURO 2012. More information you can find on
http://www.wroclaw.pl/ms/english/
Mediateka - a library for youth is a cultural institution in the
historic town centre of Wroclaw, that directs its offer to the young
city-dwellers, enabling through free of charge access to the internet,
great multimedia sources and also workshops organised from the
library's house initiative, exhibitions, cultural events granting both
intellectual and social development.
Mediateka wishes to invite European volunteers with conviction that
their presence will give a particular cultural character to the
institution - direct contact of Wroclaw youth with the volunteer is
going to be a chance for genuine intercultural exchange Mediateka it
can serve young volunteers as a particular place allowing for personal
development, exchange of experiences, facing condition of work amongst
youth not less than people of different backgrounds, nationalities or
age. Mediateka is also a chance for initiation for modern world of
multimedia technologies.
All service and entertainment events of Mediateka are well directed
towards the readers of special care - youth with less opportunities
that willingly participates in them.
B. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:
To a certain extent the project with a volunteering person is going to
be putting the institution's educative goals into life and an important
intercultural experience for the volunteers themselves.
Volunteer as a person not identified with the party of librarian
addressees will give young people an opportunity to actually and
essentially acknowledge other culture. Participation in the Polish
language course at the University together with ERASMUS Programme
students will also be the intercultural part of the project. The
library's workers are going to get the volunteers into the Polish
environment apart from the project's schedule.
In Mediateka there is full-time employed staff in the number of 11 and
4 employees of Multicentrum. Ms. Joanna Litwin will be directly
involved in the project's realization; also she is the person
responsible for individual coordination of the volunteering person and
their assigned tasks, the Mediateka manager and other staff involved in
cooperation with the volunteer.
In Mediateka volunteering person will have space and time to make his
meetings with the youth visiting the library and in want of linguistic
and cultural knowledge of the volunteer's country. Volunteer will have
an opportunity to present his own ideas and projects to the Mediateka
workers. Owing to Mediateka - the volunteer will have an opportunity to
turn out to remain active on a wider scale than just only a local
community.
Workshops held by the Meetings' House will be proposed to welcome the volunteer as a support for intercultural education.
The intercultural dimension of the project is going to be deepened
through everyday together with volunteers from the other European
countries. Through joined initiatives of the former and the Meetings'
House they are going to get together during dinners, hanging out, or
during as well organized as these, intercultural evenings.

C. Volunteer profiles and recruitment process:
Mediateka would like to host young volunteers not under 18 years old.
Creative with initiative and willing to act. Before coming here
volunteer should know the specific kind of work that Mediateka offers
and activities connected with this place.
The volunteer should have to get to know the profile of Mediateka-which
is a place connecting library and cultural center. Work is divided into
typical, normal monoton work -dailylife of library and animation`s

world of literature and environment of library.

directly responsible for coordination of the project. It its going to
be one of the employed persons in Mediateka- Mss Joannê Litwin. Apart

contact with volunteer- Ms Anna Janus. Volunteer can count as well on
each and every employed person in the Mediateka that would sharethe
daily work with him/her.
In case of conflict there is going to be as well person responsible for
coordinating the project in Coordinating organization, which is in this
case Angelus Silesius House- Ms Anna Slawczewa- the EVS Coordinator.
