EVS opportunity in a protected working place for disabled people in Iceland
An already approved EVS vacancy in Iceland in need of a volunteer A.S.A.P. The host is a protected working place where 28 disabled individuals work, along with 7 supervisors. The aim is to give disabled people a chance to work in a creative and educative environment, people that often have not so many options in other workplaces.
Tasks
The aim is that the volunteer will blend well into the good environment and the atmosphere in Asgardur and he can improve it or maintain by additional creational work. The volunteers should provide input, have initiative as well as being supportive to the workers of the center. His / Shes's role is to provide assistance in the wood workshop where the daily work of the center is done. Using the daily environment, it is possible to develop new things in the wood production, and art. Also the volunteer will participate in theater work and preparations of the theater workshops with the theatre-group in our center and other creation, involving the rest of the workers in the job. In our community there is a hiking club that goes slow and enjoys the scenery and relaxes, sees the views and surroundings and the volunteer will participate in the club.Criteria
A volunteer that is mature and independent. Above the age of 22 would be preferred. English skill essential. An interest or experience in working with the mentally disabled and some artistic background is a bonus.Iceland
