The region of Haßberge (total area 956.36 km², 87.063 citizens) offers
a high quality of life and it is an attractive location for business
combining tradition and future. It is situated in the geographical
middle of Germany, in middle of Europe. The 2 surrounding natural parks
"Haßberge" and "Steigerwald" are a wonderful area and invite visitors
to walking, sport, relaxation with their forests and canyons and
furthermore offer employments in the timber processing industry. The
area is divided by the river "Main" which brings ships from Rotterdam /
Netherlands to the Black sea.
All day schools are in construction at the secondary schools in Ebern,
Hassfurt and in Zeil. Beside there are still a few smaller schools. The
local vocational school offers an IT competency centre.
The county maintains to couple of European countries and via that to
several efficient partnerships; which in the meantime resulted in
numerous workable relationships in between. In surroundings there is a
rich cultural heritage of building monuments churches, chateaus,
castles .The recommended sightseeing possibilities are the Birkenfeld
chateau, the Altenstein castle, or the Memmelsdorf synagogue
Getting know the region, its citizens(young people), working together
while preparing, organizing and post processing the projects of the
religious youth work. Trainings for honorary youth-trainers ,camps for
children during holidays, specific religious offers, e.g.: youth divine
service, peace light from Bethlehem, days of orientation for young
people, co-work at youth political events presented by BDKJ, a support
of management of youth house, to see into public relations, co-work at
youth culture events.
The volunteer will knew the whole working field, will be involved in it
and will have, depentend from his / her interrests, the opportunity to
develop own projects
Interest in work with children and youth, basic curiosity about social
work. Wwillingness to work in the evening or on weekend (the trainings
regularly take place in this time),
The volunteer never works alone in the project. There are regular guide
conversations held between the volunteer and the project, in which the
work and insets of the volunteer are with him/her evaluated and
reflected. So that all the questions can be cleared, problems detected
and difficulties can be fixed.
The volunteer is not only involved in the project and co-work in the
team but he /she is as well integrated in a network of volunteers, who
are staying in or around Würzburg accomplishing their EVS. The
coordinator from the supporting organization offers regularly
appointments for all volunteers. This is as well the chance for
volunteers to discuss potential difficulties in the project, in
relation to culture, living, forming a living on her/his own,
homesickness and others. Because of this it may be possible to uncover
the problems quite early and to handle it before the escalation shall
come. Due to the fact that the coordinator from the supporting
organization is almost every time reachable, the volunteers have the
possibility to have a contact person out of the project with whom they
can talk about their crisis situation, e.g. problems between the
volunteer and the project; as well the talks to clear the situation can
be held.
