A. Project environment: profile of the organisation and local community
Lodz, where project takes place, is a town midmost Poland (2 hours from Warsaw) with over 600.000 habitants. It's not richest city, but has a very unique atmosphere with many historical buildings. You can also find here a lot of green places- we have biggest sanctuary forest and park situated inside of city in Poland! At the present time Lodz proudly celebrating its multicultural traditions organising each year International Festival of Four Cultures. Lodz is also the academic centre with several public and privet Universities and colleges. Probably the most famous is the Film School from which graduated such well-known directors as Roman Polanski, Krzysztof Kieslowski
The FERSO Foundation has two offices in the centre of the city - one of them is especially for EVS volunteers. Both places are equipped with computer hardware and the Internet. It enables to provide a place to work for both, FERSO employees and volunteers that take part in projects. It is also a place of meetings with the youth.
Due to the fact that the FERSO Foundation is an organization that promotes ecological attitudes, we try to do that also in our day-to-day work - we segregate rubbish, choose products that are the least harmful for the environment (e.g. recycled paper), wood instead of plastic. Responsibility for our work place i.e. keeping order and ensuring safety both in the office and outside (workshops, trips) is also important for us.

B. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
The Foundation operates in three domains:
1.ecology
2. art, culture and media
3. civil and European education
Activities that we offer to volunteers are related to these three domains.
Within the scope of the above subjects, tasks offered to a volunteer would be:
- preparing and performing a series of workshops for the chosen age group
- preparing and performing discussion clubs on the chosen topic for the youth
- creating campaigns and projects for local community on the chosen subject
- organizing big events for local community
- participating and helping in workshops for children and youth performed by FERSO Foundation
- organizing cross-cultural evenings for local community
- performing workshops during summer camps for children and youth organized by the Foundation of Green Schools and Kindergartens

Furthermore volunteers who are particularly interested in media are offered to participate in a project that, within the scope of mentioned domains, allows them to:
- making films about ecology, £ódŸ, European Union, interculturality
- editing a newspaper for local community
- performing photographic documentation of activities undertaken by the Foundation and our EVS volunteers
- possibility to enter into cooperation with local media (student radio and cable TV)
- organizing displays of their photographic works in galleries of £ódŸ

A volunteer's participation in Foundation's projects, gives him/her a chance to:
- stay in an international team of volunteers and learn European citizenship in practice
- learn how to plan and organize their work
- develop the ability to work with people of different age through performing their own workshops and helping with FERSO workshops
- acquire the knowledge on ecology, European citizenship, intercultural education.
- work according to a project plan - from the stage of writing to evaluation
- learn to work in a team and as a leader
- experience our beautiful country and Lodz - the unique city
Volunteers that stay at the Foundation are allowed to develop their own ideas and are provided with content-related, didactic and technical support. Of course they sometimes help in the Foundation's activities, however, the main issue is that their actions are creative and develop both them and the Foundation. It is important for us to give the youth a field of activity.

C. Volunteer profiles and recruitment process
Due to specific character of work and the project's guidelines we think that the best candidate would be a person who:
- is interested in at least two of those themes: ecology, human rights, intercultural education, art, media
- is creative and inventive,
- He or she should like to realize their own ideas, not only participate in something prepared by others.
- wants to work with children and youngsters- is patient, inderstanding and open
- is optimistic and has a sense of humour
Base of recruitment process will be CV and motivation letter of applying volunteer; we'll put our attention on volunteer's interests concurring with aims and theme of project.

E. Risk prevention, safety and protection
People responsible for help and volunteer's support are: coordinator (responsible for whole project), mentor (friendly help). The volunteer will discuss currently with them every important issue which concern at practical points of his/her EVS project. Moreover the volunteer will participate in special trainings at the beginning and then monthly meetings. It will be an opportunity to discuss volunteer's problems and questions concerned with his/her tasks.
Volunteer won't be responsible for safety of children whom he/she'll be working with. Volunteer doesn't stay alone with them, even during workshops.
