Project Environment and Description of Organization:

Medical-Social Philanthropic Foundation "Angelus Moldova" is a non-governmental, apolitical, nonprofit organization founded in 2000, taking aim at creating a new social medical aid system, for incurable cancer patients in advanced stages and the terminally ill and their families.

Location:
"Angelus Moldova" is situated in Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova. Chisinau has a population of over 700.000 inhabitants. The organization is located in the center of the city.
Nearby there are parks, an university, museums. A few blocks from
the office there is the main street of Chisinau- Stephen the Great with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants, libraries, monuments and art exhibition centers.
The beneficiaries of the organization are:
• People (patients) who need palliative care.
• The family (relatives, friends) of these patients.
• Physicians who supervise incurable cancer patients.
• Any persons who have questions about palliative care.
Also, information and consultancy services in relation to palliative care benefit both medical professionals, social workers as well as the entire population of the republic.

Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:

• Aiding staff in coordinating the activities of volunteers (total of 30 volunteers from which around 8 are active).
• Aiding staff in organizing events (concerts, fundraising events, charity events, events for volunteers)
• Involving himself/herself in activities with children who are  beneficiaries of the organization (creating ways of having fun for these children, other activities).
• Organizing different clubs for volunteers or beneficiaries (for example crafting clubcreating jewelry, postcards etc. that are sold afterward for fundraising purposes).
• Assisting staff at fundraising events (Might include: distribution of information, attending at tables where items are sold for fundraising purposes etc.).
• Aiding in elaboration of brochures, helping update website with relevant information, helping with design if volunteer has this kind of experience.
• Different activities with volunteers.

Profile of the volunteer:

Angelus Moldova is looking for one volunteer and is open for volunteers from all countries and with any cultural background. It is highly advantageous that the volunteer speaks English as all staff members speak English besides their native Romanian.
