PROJECT ENVIRONMENT
Palemonas children day care center is in located in Palemonas - district of Kaunas. Palemonas doesn't have very good transport connection with the center of the Kaunas, so the habitants of Palemonas don't have the same possibilities as living in other districts of Kaunas. The main problems of Palemonas habitants are alcoholism, bad economical situation, unemployment, bad hygiene conditions. Children living in multi-problemical families usually see negative parents behaviour: drinking-bout, conflicts. Children are suffering from poverty, violence, neglect, don't have possibility to spend their leisure time purposefully, so it's quite difficult for them to integrate into school society or public, so often they are absent from school are involved in criminal acts or become abused on alcohol.
The objective of the "Pamemonas children day care center" program is the integration of the children into society by influencing all three levels of their personality: physical, psychological and spiritual. As an educational method the sisters are using the Preventive Children and Youth Education System created by St. Don Bosco, described by three principles.
- Reason, which expresses itself as reasonableness and flexibility in rules and requests
- Religion, which helps people to find meaning in their life and to develop a sense of the presence of God in every person
- Loving kindness, where the young people know that they are loved and are thus helped to develop to their full potential.


ACTIVITIES
Volunteers will work in the "Palemonas Day Care Center " as workers assistants . So they would learn how to work with children at risk, they will work with workers so will get assistance in difficult situations. They will help organizing the different activities for children, assist in teaching the children social skills.

Volunteers will assist in different activities working with Children at-risk:
- Will organize different workshops for children (according to their skills) - sport, creative, educational activities;
- Will teach children to use computers, and different their programs,
- Will help children to do their homework,
- Will teach children English or other foreign languages,
- Will organize festivals, excursion and summer camps.

Volunteers will have possibility to implement their own projects.


PROFILE OF VOLUNTEERS
Organization is open for all the volunteers willing to make voluntary activities in Palemonas day care center. We would prefer volunteer who lave children and are open to work with children at risk, and don't have addictions.
