Get2gether Youth Centre from Austria has one EVS free place
The volunteer will assist the team with the everyday-programme, like: sports, youth centre, elderly home, children’s newspaper, community garden, etc.
Motivation and EVS Experience:

several volunteers up to now during the last years

usually volunteers stay around ten months, up to one year

experience for the kids with guardians from different countries within the EU (getting to know different cultures)

Description of the Organisation:
-
sociocultural district-based work in two districts of the city of Salzburg
-
target group: kids and teenagers up to 14 years (in some cases older), a lot of kids with migration-background, lower social position
-
targets: prevent conflicts between kids of different ethnicity, animate kids to play together, take responsibility for their actions, getting active in their neighbourhood in their free-time

regular activities: teenager-afternoon at the local youth center, playing games together with kids and seniors at the local retirement home, playing ground animation, cooking together (in winter), children’s newspaper & radio-show, different excursions (mostly in the city of Salzburg), sports, outdoor activities, diverse celebrations for the kids during the year (eg. Halloween, Christmas, Neighbourhood-Festivals, ...), working at the local community garden project

Project environment

district of Itzling: very good network with partner organisations (eg. youth center, resident service center, retirement home, community garden, center for intercultural encounters, ...), traditional grown village integrated into the city of Salzburg (church, lots of open spaces, playing grounds), one big estate as main focus area of our activities, activities since 1993

district of Elisabeth-Vorstadt: area around central station, neighbourhood with few and little open spaces, big houses, high percentage of people with migration background, network not as developed as in Itzling, activities here started in 2007
Proposed activities for EVS volunteers

assisting the team with the everyday-programme (see above)

creating new ideas for the everyday-programme (eg. new handicraft ideas, cultural activities and games from their home country)

creating and developing ideas for new projects / exchange projects (eg. Job Shadowing via Youth in Action Programme)

German language course via partner organisation Akzente, which coordinates and organises everything concerning EVS in Salzburg

good integration into the team of KECK
