Kindergarden EVS volunteer opportunity in Poland
The Kindergarten no. 48 from Fordon is a public organization for small children at age of 3-6 and now is looking for an EVS volunteer.
A. Project environment: profile of the organisation and local community
The Kindergarten nr 48 "under pines" is a public organization for small
children at age of 3-6. About 120 children come to our kindergarten.
There are 6 groups: for 3, 4, 5 and 6 years old children. In one group
- English group - children learn English 5 hours every day. One teacher
in this group speaks only English.
We also provide extra activities like: rhythmics, dance, corrective
exercises, chess, other language lessons, religion. We employ competent
staff: teachers, cooks and administration workers.
In our work we use special programs, for example international program:
"Partnership for Children" (Zippy's Friend) which teachs children good
human relations, talking about feelings, new relationships, show how to
solve some problems and handle with difficulties.
In the kindergarten there are many big and aesthetic rooms. It is also
equipped in a lot of toys and good sporting hardwares. There is also
the playground behind the kindergarten in the small wood.
We organize some extra meetings, for example: Carnival ball, concerts,
Mother, Father, Grandmother and Grandfather's Day, our Christmas Eve or
visit of Santa Claus.
Our aims are to take care of children while their parents are working.
We teach them knew things and play with them. The kindergarten is
opened between 6 to 19 o'clock. During this time we prepare activities
for the participating children. Please look at our website:
www.przedszkolepodsosnami.prv.pl. This website is prepared by two of
our teachers.
The kindergarten is located in Fordon - in the district of Bydgoszcz.
Fordon is occupied by over 80 thousands people. Fordon is ca. 15
kilometers from the center of Bydgoszcz town. Bydgoszcz is a quite big
town (ca. 400.000 inhabitants). It is over 650 years old. The biggest
problems of citizens of Bydgoszcz town are difficult economic
situation, high unemployment (ca. 25%) and poverty. The economy is not
going as well as would be liked. Now that the factories are old and
unused, many workers are unemployed. In Bydgoszcz there is an adequate
public transportation - bus, taxi, train and tram. 30 kilometers
outside of Bydgoszcz start the Tucholskie Forests. It is a beautiful
place, unpolluted, fresh air and very good ecological conditions
B. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
The volunteer will work 5 days a week (from Monday to Friday) for 7- 8
hours daily. The volunteers normally have Saturdays and Sundays free
for sightseeing and taking part in cultural activities. Volunteers are
free to spend this time on their own wishes and preferences. All
national and Church holidays are supposed to be free for the
volunteers. We would like to give them a free period.
The volunteers will have opportunity to visit the main cities of
Poland. The volunteers will help as full-time workers. They will work
with competent staff.
Tasks for international volunteer:
- take care of children together with the assigned group teacher

C. Volunteer profiles and recruitment process
During recruitment process we will cooperate with our co-ordinating
organization "The Windmill Foundation". The volunteers should be
interested in working with children. The volunteer should be
responsible, patient, creative and active person.
Volunteers should be flexible and open-mined persons. Experience in
work with children, knowledge of games and fun activities for young
children would be an advantage.
E. Risk prevention, safety and protection
In kindergarten safe living and working environment is guaranteed.
Safety and protection of staff and children is the most important for
us.
Volunteers will take part in the job training and Health and Safety
Course. We familiarise them with the Health and Safety at Work Act in
the place of accommodation, kitchen and workplaces. Every volunteer
will have a personal mentor and they will be in touch all the time.
Additional in the kindergarten there will be a caretaker, who will answer for every question and help in case of troubles.
A volunteer will work with competent staff. He/she will not stay alone
with children. We plan to organize for volunteers a preparing to work
