Kindergarden volunteer opportunity in the art and culture project in Poland
Kindergarden volunteer opportunity in the art and culture project in Poland
The main task of the volunteer will be preparing workshops for children on the following topics: traditions of their country of origin; life of children and leisure activities; games, plays and dances; music, songs and fairy tales typical of their home country.
The project will be implemented in the Lodz City Kindergarten number
170 in Lodz, Poland. The institution consists of five branches for
children aged 3-7. There are approximately 120 children in the nursery.
The institution has an ecological profile. It supports healthy and
natural development of a child. The kids take part in ecological
classes within the nursery's area and outside of it. They learn about
plants and get familiar with animals. They also look after themselves
by eating healthy food and learning how to live in a close friendship
with nature.
In the school year 2005/2006 we have organised in our nursery the following events:
September 2005 - exhibition of dried flowers
October 2005 - workshops for parents and teachers from our nursery
popularizing the Educational Kinesiology method. December 2005 -
theatre Parents for children prepared a play for children from our
nursery; the performance was organised by the parents and teachers.
June 2006 - family picnics in the nursery garden for kids and their families.
We also took part in following actions:
-September 2005 - April 2006 - Ecological action called "Twisted month", we collected bottle caps.
-Ecological action of gathering used batteries.
-June 2006 - Sport Olympics in which 13 nurseries took part; we have gained the 3rd award.
-May 2006 - Ballroom dancing competition, we were awarded the 3rd prize.
-December 2005 - action popularizing looking after animals; we gathered pet food for the animals from Lodz's animal shelters.
Coordinating organization FERSO Foundation is also experienced
hosting/sending organization. We realize also others EVS's projects so
volunteer participating in describing project will be also cooperate
with others EVS volunteers in our organization. We offer our office
with computer, Internet, necessary office equipment.
Lodz, where project takes place, is a town midmost Poland with over
600.000 habitants. It's not richest city, but has a very unique
atmosphere with many historical buildings. You can also find here a lot
of green places- we have biggest sanctuary forest and park situated
inside of ciiy in Poland!
We have found out about the EVS programme from the FERSO foundation.
We're very keen on this idea and we're eager to take part in the
project coordinated by FERSO. We've been co-working with the foundation
for two years now and will be pleased to continue our cooperation also
in this project.
Volunteers are very welcome in our institution. Their main task will be
preparing workshops for children on the following topics:
- Traditions of their country of origin; life of children and leisure activities
- Games, plays and dances; music, songs and fairy tales typical of their home country
Apart from that we would be happy to learn about their national and
regional attire. We would like to find out what ecological actions are
undertaken in their countries, what's the vegetation in their country
like, what species of animals live in their homeland, what's the
landscape like and what are the ways of dealing with natural
environment. We would like to learn basic phrases from the volunteer's
language, short poems, nursery rhymes, songs for children and adults.
Volunteer will also participate in activities prepared by coordinating organization
- During first two weeks will take place special workshops about working with children
- Participating in eco- artistic workshops for children prepared by
FERSO Foundation, to see how to organize bigger workshops and to watch
experienced educators.
- preparing international meetings for youngsters from Lodz (with others EVS volunteer in city)
- preparing international youth exchange (with others EVS)
We look for open-minded and creative volunteers who are outgoing, love children and are happy to work with them.
