Kindergarten Sunshine from Denmark is looking for one EVS volunteer
Kindergarten Sunshine from Denmark is looking for one EVS volunteer
he volunteer will be involved in activities with children at the age 3-6 years
A. Project environment: profile of the organisation and local community
The Kindergarten Solstraalen is a large institution with four home
groups, each having their own rooms. The fact that the children has
their "own" room and that they are taken care of by the same staff
members every day, makes them feel more safe and relaxed. However, they
are of course allowed to be in all the other areas of the institution
as well. We also have a big activity room where we can do major
activities with the activities.
Our playground is large and provides the children with a lot of possibilities for play.
The kindergarten is located in Tarm at the southern end of the Ringkøbing Inlet in West Jutland.
Tarm is ideal If you would like to experience the countryside of
Denmark, as it situated in natural surroundings with open heath areas
and is close to the sea.
Activities such as windsurfing, fishing, kite flying, walks or boat
trips on the Fjord are just some of the outdoor activities you can do
here. There are also plenty of possibilties for activities such as
walking, cycling, bird watching or horseriding.
You can find more information about Tarm and surroundings at http://visittarm.dk/content/view/1/2/lang,en/
At the homepage http://www.solstraalens-website.dk/galleri/index.php you can see pictures from the Kindergarten Solstraalen.

B. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
We hope that the presence of the volunteer will give both staff, children and parents an intercultural learning experience.
The EVS-activities will be adapted to the qualifications and interests
of the individual volunteer and he/she will be working together with
one of the staff members who will support and guide him/her when needed.
The volunteer will be attached to one of the home groups and will help the staff in the daily work of the home group.
The volunteer is very welcome to make his/her own activities with the
children, and we will do our best to help and support the volunteer so
that the EVS-stay with us will meet his/her expectations.
Examples of activities in the kindergarten:
- outdoor games: e.g.ball games, playing in the sand box, rope skipping etc.
- indoor games: e.g. drawing, painting, bead work, preparing fruit and
making bread together with the children, playing board games and other
creative activities
- various seasonal themes during the year
- excursions in the nature every Tuesday
- work with the language capabilities of the children through reading, story telling, rhymes, and play
Lodging and boarding
AFS will provide a host family for the volunteer. The life in a host
family will facilitate the integration in the local community and will
accelerate the process of both language and intercultural learning.
The volunteer will be invited to social events arranged by the local
AFS chapter and in that way he/she will meet other volunteers, exchange
students and host families.
C. Volunteer profiles and recruitment process
The volunteer should be interested in working with children of this age group and must also have the patience required.
We also expect the volunteer to be openminded and able to speak english on a conversational level.
E. Risk prevention, safety and protection
The Kindergarten complies with Danish safety regulations. The work does not involve any special risks.
