Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a volunteer who has an open and caring nature towards children and is eager to develop in the area of working with children and youth at the age 7 to 17. Such features like creativity, passion and enthusiasm are important for the volunteer to have. What is more he/she has to be patient, friendly and empathic, but in the same time able to create the relation of leadership, authority and discipline in a group.

Concerning the fact that the children under the Centre’s care are in quite difficult social situation, we think that emotional stability and distance are really important and may prevent excessive personal involvement in children’s every-day problems.

What are the main tasks:

First group of tasks consists of basic help in educating wards how to take care of themselves and helping them in everyday care including teaching them how to prepare food, how to dress up, how to behave, how to choose the right bus on the way home.

The other group of activities consists of documenting the life of the House, which is: to make a movie about regular work of the House, about the events, in which wards take part taking photos, running the chronicle and so on.

The last group of activities consists of basic work connected with keeping the House tidy, like cleaning according to the schedule with the other workers.

During the project the volunteer will have the opportunity to develop new sport and artistic skills (used for therapy) as well as share with the one he/she already knows.

Where?

It is a 8,500- inhabitant town in South-West Poland, located in the Lower Silesia region, 50km from the capital of the region - Wroclaw. It is a small town with beautiful natural environment around, cycle paths, ornithology spots and nice parks to have a walk. It has all the basic facilities and quite comfortable connection to bigger cities around like Wroclaw, Leszno, Poznan or Trzebnica.
