itle of the Host Project: Youth Support: From home to society (12 months)
Hellenic Association of Informatics (H.A.I.) have base in the centre of the city of Athens that is situated in Southern Greece, in the region of Sterea Hellas, with a population of approximately 5.000.000 people. Athens is the capital of Greece and belonge to Athens Prefecture. The municipality of Athens is the main Greek economical dealing and commercial transaction centre linked with two important industrial areas in its Northern and South-western boundaries. There are archaeological sites, museums, theatres, cultural centres, public services and all the educational levels. In the nearby mountain forests, winter sports centres are settled. The city consists of a unique urban centre including the municipality of Piraeus in which there is the main port of Greece. The activities of the volunteers are taking place in the host organisation office (downtown Athens) and their support cover (with office support and sort visits - municipalities, schools etc.) all the Athens Prefecture.
H.A.I. experience with EVS, is in a very good level. From 1998 our NGO is send organization (send a big number of youths abroad, in social, enviromental and culture programs) and in weekly base informs more from 15 young persons for EVS program (the briefing concerns so much the EVS what the Youth generally). We consider, that then from so much years of attendance in the program we can advance in the process of host volunteers. H.A.I members last years very often in exchanges of young persons and in seminars and it has educated a important core of volunteers which support actions. At the same time are ready to offer time and help in host program to present it now.
B. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
" Describe what you can offer to volunteers in terms of service and learning opportunities.

Our main motivation in proposing the specific EVS placement is to valorize important elements of the cultural heritage of the hosting country and also experience in the youth informations field (from our part). These elements represent a real 'capital' for the volunteer.

We believe that this project will contribute to realize one of the main objectives of our organization namely to stimulate the awareness of the local young population about the necessity to become more dynamic and participative in issues that are of their interest and concern.
H.A.I. will offer in the volunteer that will participate in the program, support and education in the following mainly subjects:
Linguistic lessons in the Greek Language and also pracktical intercultural experience.
Practical experience and education in the subjects of Greek rich history, culture, environement and traditions in all the region of Athens and around.
Practical experience and education on issues about work with youths, youth policies, infromations, spread good practicies, international activities, youth exchanges and support etc. We provide also skills about international programs (seminars, youth exchanges) with Youth in Action program.
The volunteers will have the possibility of acquisition of complete picture for the modern Greek society and for the young persons, have continuous contact with young members of H.A.I. that acting with them.
" Please, explain what will be the role of EVS volunteers in the host organisation.
The role of volunteer determined in the frame of actions that until today have in our NGO. Concretely the volunteer supports activities, briefings, projections, distributions, communications about EVS and Youth in Action in local communities and youths. He/She will contribute actively in following:
- In the treatment and the contribution in drawings of distribution of aims of action EVS and Youth in Action mainly in the region of Eastern Athens districts (Pagkrati, Vyronas, Zografoy, Kaisariani etc.)
- In the communication with all the old volunteers (EVS and others) of our NGO and other friends, organise new meetings and reactivation once again in our actions (with parties, small trips, information about the Youth in Action and other National Level projects).
- In the activation of Greek youngs and their attendance in abroad projects in the frames of Action 1 of Youth in Action and in National Level projects.
- In the acquisition of knowledge with attendance in seminars of Action 4.3.
- In the assistance of concretisation of open events of our NGO.
- In the support of our volunteers afterwards the completion of EVS and their return in Greece.
- In the support of other action where our NGO you will planed at the program period.
Also, very important is the contribution of international volunteers in H.A.I (except the "official" host program). Daily contact and communication with the volunteers of our N.G.O. would constitute a very interesting experience for the Greek youths (topics: language, culture, experiences and youth interests) and a very interesting example for the young persons that are informed by our N.G.O. for the EVS program (and Youth). Also, the international volunteers give help (ideas, practical skils etc) in the future projects (seminars, youth exchanges) of H.A.I. with active way.
" Describe the activities in which the volunteers could be involved and the activities the volunteers could create in your organisation. Give examples of typical activities for the volunteers.

Within this EVS project we intend to recruit 1 volunteers from E.U. countries.

The main objective of this project is to spread information about possibilities that EU gives to young people, make them aware of being part and also motivates them to organise things by their own and promote the idea of voluntary work.

Other aspect will be teaching about active citizenship. So the main aim is to give to the youngsters (age 15 - 25 - 30) in our area 'the power', tools and information, to do more with Youth in Action programme.

One task is the EVS Volunteer to form (with our help and people) a promotion team to go to schools to explain and promote Youth in Action programme, (act like 'Youth ambassador') and generally make direct contact with youngsters in our city.The EVS volunteer will be responsible for contact and preparation of activities for students and young people from our area who is interested in European citizenship, intercultural learning etc. Of course, after preparation the volunteer will lead those activities at schools or informal meetings.

Also volunteer is responsible for / about:
- Cooperating with local youth and volunteers in realizing new projects.
Cooperating with local organizations and their local and foreign volunteers within different cultural events and projects.
- Helping with organizing and running meetings with youth and encouraging them to volunteering, also through other local organizations, developing their own project ideas.
- Helping in organizing educational-cultural activities held in our region.
Informing youth about the EVS program possibilities.
Finding EVS projects attractive for individual potential volunteers who want to work as a volunteer abroad and helping preparing youth going on EVS projects.
- Motivating the young to taking up further education forms, foreign language learning.
Organizing groups with similar educational needs, active rest camps with elements of the education and training.
- Helping in the daily work of our NGO.
- If volunteer's skill allow - help with administrating Internet web site of NGO (information considering EVS and Youth in Action).

(More of these actions are take place in the afternoon - see draft program below - in our office).

The volunteer might have the possibility to develop -as a personal project- a proposal for a Youth activity that could be promoted by the host or send NGO. If this is the case he/she will be able to dedicate 10% of the EVS period to this task and the participation to on-going activities.
