Intercultural dimension: In our Project are included aspects such as intercultural learning, tolerance, mutual understanding and fight against racism.

Those are very important values that need to be empowered among young people as well as adults since, in our society, most people don’t seem to take it into account.

The intercultural learning can be reached through the project, which allows to get to know another culture and to share our own. On the other hand, the project is an ideal context in order for the volunteers, the main protagonists, to learn about respect, mutual understanding, tolerance and racism; which is a good lesson to happily live with the difference we have to face in our society.

The EVS project consists of supporting the reserve staff and collaborating to the preservation of the area while raising awareness of citizens in general and young people in particular about the importance to care about natural reserves.

We have a special interest in hosting a European volunteer to the activity. The EVS project aims at integrating young people from other European countries in order to achieve the following objectives:


  • Provide personal and professional enrichment among volunteers, workers and public.

  • Spread the EVS programme among young local people and interest them.

  • Reinforce the activity programme of the project itself, hosting an important protagonist in the activities developed in the reserve.

  • Erase cultural borders; spread the citizens’ intercultural dimension.

Tasks in the Cooperation Departament:


European Volunteer’s tasks

The volunteer will participate in anually-organized-intecultural activities. Although the calendar can vary, those activities are generally as such:


Radio program "ELX SOLIDARIA"

Preparation and realization of the weekly radio program for the dissemination of NGO development, knowledge of the situations of developing countries. In the framework of the awareness of the Department of Radio Jove Elx Cooperation


Workshops Education for Development

Support the implementation of education workshops for Development Cooperation Department performs in schools of education (primary and secondary) of Elche


Group of volunteers from the Department of Cooperation

Participation in the group of volunteers from the Department of Cooperation: supporting the planning, implementation and evaluation of social awareness and education for development in Elche.


Events Cooperation Department: Support for the organization and execution of the following awareness

- Entities Cooperation Fair Play (April-May)

- Municipal Conference for Development Cooperation (November)

1. Participation in the working groups meetings :

  • The volunteer will attend all the working group’s meetings, in collaboration with the responsible of the activity

  • The volunteer will actively participate

  • The volunteer will take note of everything change and decisión taken during the meetings

  • The volunteer will assist the organizers during the meetings


2. Contribution to the development of the activities. The volunteer will :


  • Participate in the development of the “concejalía’s” activities, giving their opinion and assessing those of others

  • Contribute to the design of a advertizing leaflet

  • Contribute to the activities advertisement

  • Contribute to the organization and the preparation of the activities


3. Contribution to the development, the follow-up and the evaluation of the activities. The volunteer will :

  • Attend the activities

  • Impulse and support the citizens so they take part in the activities

  • Assist the person in charge in preparing the activity

  • Recollect the citizens’ opinion about the activity through a questionnaire

  • Attend all the activities and register the citizens who take part in them

  • Contribute to the execution of the activity in collaboration with the person in charge

  • Make an evaluation form according to the questionnaires’ results



4. Contribution to the development, follow-up and evaluation of the workshops in the leisure centers. The volunteer will :

  • Attend the workshops in the leisure centers

  • Impulse and support students so they actively take part in the workshop

  • Help the person in charge in the preparation and development of the workshop

  • Recollect students’ opinions about the workshop through a questionnaire already designed

  • Assist in the organization of the workshops

  • Contribute to the execution of the workshop, in collaboration with the monitor

  • Create an evaluation survey based on the questionnaire’s results


We must make clear that the EVS volunteer WILL NOT HOLD A POSITION OF EMPLOYMENT

32 hours a week (including language training)

Language training in Universidad Miguel Hernández: 4h /week

Considering that the volunteer will spend 60% of their time on the workplace, up to 70% occasionally, 25% of the rest of the day will be dedicated to training and 15% to free time activities.


At any time, the volunteer’s opinions and evaluation will be taken into consideration when it comes to their tasks. During the week, they will have at least one meeting with the tutor and another one with the work team.


As a general rule, the volunteer will have two days an a half to rest, usually during the weekend except if there’s a camping activity or an organized trip. In that case, the volunteer will rest during the week.


Timetable and free days:


7 hours a day, 5 days a week, two consecutive days of free time and two days of holiday per month during the whole project.

Food and accommodation:


The volunteer will live in a flat rent by the Host organization and share it with other European Volunteers. He/she will have an individual bedroom and will share the rest of the flat with the others (kitchen, bathroom,...). The monthly contribution for food, gas, water and energy is 250€.


Local transport:


Not Necessary


The volunteer’s pocket money:


Every month, the volunteer will receive 105 €.


Learning results:

  • Social and interpersonal competences:

Adaptability and capacity to face new challenges, teamwork, sharing of responsibilities among an international teamof volunteers.


  • Cultural expression:

Raise awareness about cultural differences and needs among an international environment.


  •   Communication in the mother tongue and in foreign languages:

Communication, socialization and negotiation in a foreign language (Spanish). Besides, to insure an effect tutoring for the volunteer, the Coordinating organization will asume a total responsibility in monitoring the whole learning process thanks to an arrival training, intermediate evaluation and a Youthpass at the end of every EVS.

Crisis management:

The coordinating organization assumes the responsibility to raise awareness about risks evaluation, risks prevention and high support quality within the EVS programme in Spain as well as in the network with other partners.

The volunteers will receive a training in crisis prevention and management during the arrival training. Furthermore, the coordinating organization will keep personal data and the name of a person to contact in case of emergency for every volunteer.
