Organizatia Studentilor Arad from Romania is looking 14 volunteers for "Youth for Youth" Project
The activities that will be developed inside the communities with the youngsters form the high schools will be: an historical project, a puppet theatre, work-shops on different themes, sport competitions between the high school classes.
A. Project environment: profile of the organisation and local community
The various environment of Arad had offered good conditions for
habitation since the dawn of time. The great ecomonic development of
Arad brings it in 1834 on the rang of free royal town. The industrial
revolution its based on the spectacular development of the fields of
ecomony based on manufacturing the local industry such as food
industry, wood and clothing industry.
On behalf of the democracy and market economy, Arad is becoming again an area of prosperity at the west gate of the country.
Although the local authorities support the initiatives of
non-guvernamental organisations, the European Service of Volunteering
was not well implemented or not enough, so that the young to have an
initiateve to develop a project.
Because the voluntary activity has to include contacts with the local
comunity, we want that trought this project the STUDENT ORGANIZATION
ARAD to make come true such project also in the local comunity of Arad
The organisation which will host the young envolved in the Europeean
Service of volunteering is for the town of Arad. So that the volunteer
will develop his activity in this town and in its close whereabouts.
B. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
Once the volunteers arrive, the persons responsible of this
project, inside OSA, will try to make it easy to them to get use to the
new community by having lots of free time activities. The members of
OSA will give the chance to volunteers to meet the parteners around the
country. There will be organised visits with learning porpouse in
different cities where those organisations are developing there
activity.
For an efficiant communication and the establishement of an
interpersonal relationship between the volunteer and the local comunity
and for furfilling efficiently the activities proposed in the project,
OSA will give the opportunity to take an romanian language course.
Nevertheless to enjoy even more the free time, OSA will contibuite to
an informal education of the volunteer by envolving him in different
activities and projects of the organisation that will take place during
their staying in our town ( dance and drawing class, theatre)
Please, explain what will be the role of EVS volunteers in the host organisation.
Once envolved in the organization the volunteers will have to obey some
internal rules, but this thing won't be forbbidenable.
The volunteer will have the opportunity to establish connection between the organisation, town or home country and the hosts.
In this way the possibilities of receiving new information runs in both ways.
Both the members of the local organisation and the volunteers will be
able to exchange information and so SEV will be transformed into an experience. After this excerience the non-formal the volunteers will contribute to the personal developement.
Describe the activities in which the volunteers could be involved and
the activities the volunteers could create in your organisation. Give
examples of typical activities for the volunteers.
The activities that the volunteers will performe will be in different areas such as cultural, sports, socially, environment
The activities can be acomplished either individual, either by group.
The individual ones are extremely important for the learning
experience, individual support, highly impact on the personal
development and deep oportunities of valorisation into the local
community. Those in group will allow the volunteers to attend by group
to local activities.
The volunteers will activate in Romania for 6 minths, during this time
there will be a schedule by OSA and the volunteer will be aware of this
when he will attend to this project. Generally the activities will be
structured in this way: the first two months he will be familiarized
with the local community and the environment and with the activities he
will performe, the next two months he will activate and he is allowed
to ask for help to the OSA members, and in the last two months of the
project the activities will performed by the volunteer and the follow
up activitys of the project will be established During this time the
volunteer will be supervised and sustained in the activities he will
performe and will spend a lot of free time with the OSA members.
The group SEV activities need a strong partenership with the
organizatory stucture of the event. All the duties of the volunteer
have to be tight to the event , but he doesn't have to stop at this. At
his will, he can propose new ideas. Some exemples are: getting
information to write a book on the town of Arad, or having a charity
theatre play. During the time of his stay in Arad, the volunteer will
have the opportunity to attend on every project of OSA. The volunteer
will attend to courses, worh-shops and free talks at OSA and other OSA
parteners. The volunteer will have the opportunity to come with new
ideas to emprove the project. During this 6 months the volunteer will
be an active member of OSA and will have the opportunity to activate in
all projects and activities of OSA.
C. Volunteer profiles and recruitment process
The recruitment proces will be accesible and fair.
OSA
will give the opportunity to all the youth that are willing to apply to
this project no matter of their belonging to an ethnic group, a
religios group or their sexual or politic orientation. There is no need
to have a certain education or experience. Speaking english does not
offer an advantaje.
OSA will establish partener-ships with other organisations in EU to
offer the posibility to apply this project to all those who want to
attend.
D. Special needs (if applicable)
At this time our town does not have the possibility to host young people with disabilities.
Some of the problems that might be are the acces ways into buildings
and public transportation. OSA will be able to host only volunteers cu
low georgaphic or economic posibilities and will offer the opportunity
to apply to the project.
In conclusion to those problems, OSA wants to establish a partener-ship
with the organisations that send volunteers and with the volunteers so
that this issue is to be clarified.
E. Risk prevention, safety and protection
To provide the volunteer with a pleseant staying, OSA will assign
a person for each one to help if some problems appear. The volunteer
can relay on every member of OSA during the time in Romania.
The appartement that is available is ensured and in a friendly
neighbourhood. In case of desease, there will be a medical doctor who
will provide medical treatement.
