The main working field of the international volunteers will be the domain "Youthwork and schoolprojects".
A.
The Youth education centre Blossin is an organisation of public
utility. Being an educational centre with 230 Beds, it offers Youth
federations, youth groups and vocational training centres variable key
activities for processing individual designed educational and leisure
time programms.
The from Blossin and in in co-operation with the Sports Youth
Brandenburg developed educational programms in the field of out-school
education are adressed directly to young people and young adults as
well to volunteer employees in youth work. On the generous outdoor
territory, in the middle of a pinewood and directly situated at the
Wolziger See, various educational, leisure time, sport and vocational
activities can be realised. The educational centre has a direct
connection to the aquatic sport areas in Brandenburg through its own
port.
Young people can be trained as vacation-leader or youth leader. Doing
this they obtain he necessary qualities in order to engage themselves
to develop their own leisure time activities self dependent. In the
centre of intrest are the possibilities of sportorientated youth work.
Whether aquatic sports, adventure or outdoor education, nature
experiences or dealing with modern communication tools- the educational
offers of the Educational Centre target for more capacity to act,
personal responsibility and partizipation of young people.
The Youth Educational Centre Blossin is situated south-east to Berlin
direcion Frankfurt/Oder near the Wolziger See. Berlin Centre is about
40 km away and Königs Wusterhausen, the nearest city about 15 km. The
Youth Educational Centre Blossin is situated in the middle of a
pinewood at the Wolziger see and covers a big territory. The village
Blossin is very small (200 inhibitants), the nearest bigger locality is
Friedersdorf and is 3 km away. It has an own railway station wit trains
to Berlin or Frankfurt/Oder, a supermarket, a pharmacy, a church, etc..
The population is more or less rural, but because of the closeness of
Berlin they are very open-minded.
B.
The main working field of the international volunteers will be the
domain "Youthwork and schoolprojects". The volunteer will assist the
groupleaders mainly in the outdooractivities and will get the needed
formation (security training for climbing, sailing, inline skating,
etc.). The volunteer will be assistant but will partly also have to
lead small groups on his own. The attendence of international
volunteers helps the educational centre to strenghten the
"international panache" and to encouragean intercultural co-operation
in the team. The volnteers have the possibility to bring in their own
ideas in accordance with their capability, they can improve their
skills (For example to acquire the youth leader card, and to attend
other trainings). The volunteers get acquainted with live in an
educational centre. They also learn how to organise international youth
exchanges.
Tasks:
Youthwork and schoolclasses: reception of the groups, assistence in
group leading, outdooractivities (climbing, sailing, canoeing, etc.)
international work: office work, look after groups, publicity (photo
documentations) Port: support the canoe renting agency, support in the
fun sports hall
C.
- open-minded - interest in working with young people - interest in
living in a rural area - possibly: experience in outdoor and
watersportactivities
- min. 18 years
- language knowledge (at least english) - you have a driver licence -
you have a health identification certificate
Selection procedure: all potential volunteers are asked to fill in the
same application form so that every volunteer can be assessed on the
same base and with equal chances. These forms are the base for an
assessment/selection in close co-operation with the host organisation.
Important is the motivation of the vounteer and how his estimated
abilities fit in the project and how the project can fulfill the
expectations of the volunteer. At the same time we try to involve young
people from different countries. It is also planed that we offer
possibilities to young people with less opportunities.
Partner organisations: the Brandenburgische Sportjugend participates
regularly and organisse themselves contact making-/ cooperation-
seminars in order to get acquainted with partners personally and with
their projects. Good reliable partners are a very important part for a
succesfull voluntary service.
E.
The better the co-operation between the EVS-partners, the enriching the
experience for everybody, especialy for young people with less
opportunities. Communication before, during and after their service
between sending and hosting organisation is very important.
In each of the projects there is an instructor appointed as well the
mentor to contact (the referent for international education). Beside
that there is a regular contact with the head office of the
Brandenburgische Sportjugend (Co-ordinator) where Mister Cools act as a
tutor.
Because we also work with german volunteers (FSJ = voluntary social
service) we will use the opportunity to create a peer situation between
a german volunteer and an european volunteer. The german volunteer
could support the european volunteer (supplementary to the
instructor/mentor and the tutor)
