Through different meetings where he can discuss, communicate with the team, the volunteer will learn to know the disabled better, which enables him to establish confident relations with the users and to develop preofessional ethics.
The volunteers will make a rewarding experience that can confirm their choice of a career in the social or health fields, and be the start of a personnal reflection on the handicap, say, the initiation of personnal commitment for a better recognition of the disabled and that the handicap be bettertaken into account in the social organisation. They will become more mature, more independent and more self-confident.
The volunteer will never be in situation of responsibility, his presence will be a quality plus factor to the young dissabled people. All of the activities he will do will be performed under supervision of his tutor.

OUR MOTIVATION:
The contribution of a European volunteer, due to his youth, puts new life into the institution. We hope that his role will lead to a spirit of openness to the local environment but also that it will make the professionals think and open up to other European know-how.
Our goal is to create an atmosphere of openness and tolerance, to promote European citizenship through the participation of voluntary activities where the emphasis is on serving others and for us more specifically elderly mentally handicapped people in special homes. Hosting a young EVS means mutual enrichment through which both the volunteer and our residents and staff of our institution learn to live together and to share different cultures and traditions. Our desire is to give a European dimension to this project for a better understanding of people and to fight stereotypes. We see it as a significant step in the understanding of European cultures.
Through an EVS project, the volunteers and our hosting institution feel committed to a citizenship approach which aims to raise increasingly awareness of the importance of the disabled and elderly's well-being in our society.
Our organization never hosted EVS volunteers, but we already have experience with them, Through the orher organization in Presov and area around our young people had met the volunteers quite often. THEY – the young people, also asked us to host the volunteers. We have been experiencing Youth in Action program for some time already. In welcoming young volunteers we want to open up our institution,to show its operating system, the way youth handicapped dependent people are cared for in Slovakia. Doing this we hope to raise their awareness on the importance of voluntary service in the medical and social institutions. The volunteers' youth contributes to create a cosy and family-like atmosphere, creating intergenerational relationships of which as well residents as young people take full advantage. Each of the volunteers brings innovative ideas and new freshness to our institution. We want to make it possible for our young volunteers, both to approach and learn more about the handicapped people, and to make a rewarding experience, which will help them better learn to know themselves, and perhaps make choices for their future career.
