Project in a kindergarten
MAin activities for the volunteer are goin to be the following: -help in decorating the kindergarten -giving simple English classes for kids -assistance in preparation for concerts in the kindergarten -leading Language cafe for the kindergarten teachers -promoting EVS among local youth
Project environment:
Narva city is located in the north-eastern part of Estonia on the border
with Russia, lying 212 kilometers from Tallinn an 150 kilometers from
St. Petersburg. The city stands on the left bank of the River Narova, 14
kilometers before it flows into the Gulf of Finland. At the estuary of
the River Narova lies a resort town Narva-Jõesuu. In terms of
population Narva city is the third biggest city in Estonia. Economically
our city is unfortunately in a weaker position than the rest of the
cities in Estonia.
Our kindergarten is not far from the city center. There are 2 shops and
one park close to us. In any kindergarten there are commomn rules and
our is not an exception. Smoking is forbidden on the territory of the
kindergarten, all the worker must pass medical examination.
What do we offer our volunteer? First of all the age of children that
the Volunteer will deal with is 5-7 years old. We expect him to conduct
English classes with children. A lot depends on the Volunteer's skills
and wish. He can make the whole lesson himself or to be an assistant.
Beside this we offer drowing classes and the classes where children
learn how to create a handmade things. It's obviuos that we expect a
person that is creative and initiate in order to feel comfortable at our
place working with children. We also wait volunteer who is ready to
bring with him/her own culture and share with us.
Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:
Our kindergarten regularly holds different traditional events and
activities, that let children and parents spend spare time together and
unite the team. These are:
" Children's drawing exhebition "The world through children's eyes"
(mothly)
" Theme exhebitions "Estonia-my mother land", "Handmade", "Folk arts",
"A bit of fantasy and...", "Nature's gifts", "Animal exhibition"
" Contests: poetry readung performance, music festival, sport
competition
The Volunteer will be involved in all these activities and could also
initiate his/her own ones. Thanks to it the Volunteer will have a chance
to develop his/her skills in the field of creativity, event arrangement
and management. He/she will experience different kinds of work:
independent one and team work as well.

In our kindergarten we would like to host the following Volunteer that:
" Could help children learning English. Here he/she needs to be a good
english language user, know some English nursery rhymes and be able to
create contact with children.
" Could give our children handcraft lessons (textile-, paper
craftworks). Here he/she needs to be creative, to be a good explainer
and could also need a bit of the Russian language skills (but not
obligatory).
" Could assist in holding some activities, performances with children
and their parents inside the building or outside it. Here it could be
useful to know some nursery rhymes, be active and initiative, be
communicative and open-minded.
Volunteer profiles and recruitment process:
There is no difference for us what is the nationality and age of
theVolunteer. We are open for co-operation and communication with any
person that shows interest in our activities and is ready to assist.
We consider a SO is the one, who is responsible for the Volunteer's
decency and is in a very close contact with the Volunteer not only
before the participation in the project but also within it.
Risk prevention, protection and safety:
We guarantee to provide the Volunteer with safe living and working
environment. His/her psychological equilibrium will be provided by
Mentor. This person will be always available for the Volunteer and will
accompany him/her in everything that demands support or assistance.
Within the first week the Volunteer will have an orientation on accident
prevention in the kindergarten and will be supplied with the list of
emergency phone numbers. This information should secure the Volunteer's
life in Narva and work in the kindergarten. In case the Volunteer needs
first medical aid or suddenly gets sick, then we have a nurse, who could
assist him/her. During a day there will be always people around and the
Volunteer could turn to any of them.
In case YOu are interested in such a project, send CV and Motivation letter.
