Most of the activities volunteers will have at the Department of development, trainings and international activities of Regional Youth Center.
A. Project environment: profile of the organization and local communityCommunity:Košice, the metropolis of Eastern Slovakia, the second largest city after capital Bratislava . Košice is about 440 km far from Bratislava. High Tatra is about 200 km from Košice. Lying in the valley of the River Hornád in the basin that shares its name, Košice is a regional administrative centre and Eastern Slovakia's hub of industry, commerce, science and culture. The country's second largest city, Košice currently has a population of more than 250,000 inhabitants. As the Regional Administrative Centre for Košice Country, Košice provides government services to an area encompassing 6 753 sq. kilometers and serves over 766 000 people.Košice is a city with an eventful and illustrious past, its earliest recorded mention dating from 1230, when it is referred to as "Villa Cassa". The coat of arms is the oldest in Europe, a fact attested to by a letter dated 1369. The city's historic sights - from various eras - are concentrated in the historic centre, which is an Urban Heritage Area. The reconstructed main street, lined by burgher houses and palaces, offers visitors a pleasant stroll and is also the venue for major events in the life of the cityThere are a lot of ethnical groups. According to the fact that Košice is a royal town, there are many cultural monuments such as The Cathedral of Saint Elizabeth, Immaculate, The St. Michael's Chapel or Miklush`s Prison. There are also many museums for example East Slovakian Museum or The Golden Treasure of Košice. Košice is also sport (Bobosed run in Kavecany), cultural (The Slovak State Philharmonic or The State Theatre Košice) and industry (U.S.Steel Košice) canter of the whole eastern part. Košice is an important function of the Eastern Slovakia. Air, bus and train transportation is well developed. Locality of Košice is surrounded by villages and beautiful places such as caves (Jasov, Aragonite) or castles (Betliar, Krásna Hôrka) that are appropriate for touringHow to get hereBy train - Many of Europe's busiest train routes pass through or very near Slovakia. It is especially simple to travel from neighboring countries. There are also regular trains directly to and from key cities in Germany, Italy and Russia. Generally, the train fares are very low. The train network in Slovakia is well developed, and trains are the most comfortable way to travel. Other destinations are added from time to time, but these are fairly stable. Charter flights reach many more regional airportsBy bus - Most countries in Europe are connected with Slovak destinations by regular service, usually direct (Eurolines provides service from 21 European towns). Many places for youth are in Košice, for example centre of leisure time activities, open clubs, NGO working with youth, many pubs, tea-houses, discotheques. And many young people live in Košice; there are several universities, many high schools.

In our centre there are the 9 full time workers. Two people work in economy department and all other in regional youth centre. All workers in regional youth centre participate on activities for youth. There are meetings with youth from partners NGO in centre twice a week. In our neighbourhoods there is a secondary school and youth hostel. Pupils after school come to our open club and spare their time with other young people.
Scope of employment of our organization:

Ø Ivan Kimák - youth worker in open club, responsible for preparing of videoconferences, gabfests, seminars, science week, program supporting of youth parliament and school council
Ø Izabela Pribulová - regional coordinator of program Youth in action, European information service-Eurodesk relay, information worker and trainer
Ø Eva Ružbacká - administration of sport conception development on high schools
Ø Eva Škripková - organizing of proceed Olympiads, congestion of pupils before Olympiads, member of regional Youth council,
Ø Igor Tymczák - organizing of proceed Olympiads, astronomical club, star observation, open club
Ø Erika Munková - director of Regional youth centre, supporting of youth parliament and youth councils program , trainings for members of youth councils, member of European network of Youth centres , participation on international actions
Ø Jolana Bugošová a Erika Repaská - economics, personnel clerks, business agencyKošice as a large city might not need so much of an intercultural dimension since it is not a place where you can not see any foreigners, but still it is important especially for young people who come for our activities to feel more connected to volunteers from different countries. Not just to see foringeirs from 5 meters distance.
B. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers

Support:He /she will have full support from all workers in organization. He/she will have during the all time of his stayed here a special teacher of Slovak language.
Role:Volunteer's role will consist in cooperation with workers in organization. The volunteer will help them on current activities prepared by Centre. He/she will be working mostly on activities in a culture area dance, music, and painting, but he/ she can be active in areas corresponding to his/her hobbies and interestsAt the beginning we will show him/her where he/she will spend his working and leisure time, working area.Volunteer can participate on all activities of our organization. If some activities will be running during the weekend volunteer will have free time during the working week / if depends on agreement/
The week schedule:
The week program will state after mutual agreement with volunteer according her/his suggestion and interest.Individual activities for volunteer will be running by the next program.
Activities from Monday till Friday, typical week:
- preparing activities
- preparing schooling activities, trainings and other programs and events of centre, participation on each activities according her/his interest(for example schooling activities for school councils, youth parliaments, activities of regional coordinator, competitions, etc..)
- searching information from Eurodesk
- help to regional worker of Eurodesk,
- work in Open club, it is possibility for her/his meet every day with 15 - 20 young people
- work with leader of astronomical club on meeting and specially events for youth and children (camps, competitions)
- meeting with partner ´s NGO working with youth journalists, meeting with youth, tutor,
- language lesson
- creating own project

D. Special needs
Our centre do not have possibility to support volunteers with fewer opportunities, we do not have experience and resources as technically and personally too at the moment.
E. Risk prevention, safety or protection
· Ensure that volunteer have completed necessary documentation for travel abroad.
· Give participants an information pack including a 'help me' card.
· Ensure that there is a clear schedule for volunteer including responsibilities and time off.
· Ensure a good training and preparation program for volunteer - should include the development and agreement of contract and ground rules for all partners. Training should also include information on cultural awareness, safety and well-being, relationship building.
· Have clear emergency plans to include contact details for host and home country. Sending and hosting organizations to each have a designated contact person in case of emergency.
· Volunteer have a medical kit along.
· Volunteer know his/her rights and responsibilities.

A. Aims and motivation
· Clearly state your motivation and aim to send volunteers
With our participation in the "Youth in Action" program we would like to give the youngsters the chance to go abroad. As well, we would like to offer to Slovak youngsters the chance to get to know other culture and chance to get new skills and abilities. It's a possibility to meet other people, other cultures and it's an opportunity to get more independent and to develop they personality.Our organization Regional youth centre was redeveloped from Centre of leisure time activities in 2004. Our organization has no experience with sending and hosting the volunteers up to now, but we have a lot of information about European voluntary service. In our organization is working regional coordinator of "Youth in action" program. She has a good knowledge of EVS program and also experience with working with volunteers hosted in others organization in our region. She is responsible for promotion of youth in action program, which includes EVS. We are also branch of European information service - Eurodesk and we have regular contact with hosting organizations in other countries. Another two members of stuff have attended training about voluntary service and they know what is important and necessary for sending volunteers abroad. We are very motivated to send young people as volunteer abroad.In Košice, we have permanently high percentage of unemployed people (about 20%), especially youth. For anybody, it is very hard to find the job here. And it is even harder for youngsters from villages. Our task is to bring the information also to these youths. We believe that the sending and receiving of young European people will enrich our organization with lot of new experiences. We want to promote a European awareness to public and increase informed young people.We'd like to prepare them before their departure and insure the follow-up during the project.
AIMS
- to promote international co-operation and understanding among young people from different countries and different cultures;
- to help young people realize their voluntary ideas;
- to provide opportunities for young people without distinction to race, language, religion or social status, who wish to acquire cross-cultural skills and gain international experience for their personal and professional development. We support the ideas of solidarity and humanity, and think that the international volunteer's project is the area, where everybody is able to express him or herself for the sake of peace.
B. Preparation of the volunteer
· How do you plan to recruit, approach the volunteers.
We regularly prepare the promotional activities as information days for youth, trainings for youth and youth leaders. Each volunteer who express the interest to go abroad for voluntary service. And will have our intensive support. As a first he/she will have the needed consultation about EVS with responsible person in our organization. He/she will receive all information about voluntary service, we will help them write curriculum vitae and motivation letter and find and communicate with the host organization. We will also ensure for the volunteer all necessary and as well as special preparation for his/her task and work as a volunteer. We offer to the volunteer the possibility to take part in a language course. In case of need we can buy some materials and equipment for their work in host organisation.
· If you already have a person responsible for the overall preparation/training of the volunteer, describe his/her personality (professional knowledge, experience, language, name, surname, age, sex).
In our organization is working regional coordinator of "Youth in action "program. Her name is Izabela Pribulová. She is 25 years old. She has good knowledge of EVS program and also experience with working with volunteers in other organizations in our region. She has also information from first hand, because she works for European information service - Eurodesk. She is responsible for promotion of youth in action program included EVS. She has participated on few projects through program Youth in action and she has regular contact with hosting organization in other countries. Another two members of stuff attend training about voluntary service and they know what is important and necessary for sending volunteers abroad, they can supply this contact person.
· How do you plan to ensure active communication between SO, HO and V?
The staff of the Regional youth centre will ensure appropriate assistance and guidance to the volunteers during all the stages of the EVS period (preparation, implementation and follow-up). Since our organisation has good experience with volunteers at national level we would like to extend the intercultural dimension and assume responsibilities of sending organisation. We will upkeep contact with hosting organisation during all duration of EVS through e- mail, messenger, ICQ or Skype and phone.
· List all possible ways and means by which you will actively involve the volunteer in the process of preparation?
Volunteers will get all the necessary support for application and realization of the project.They will be able to use computer, internet access and the other office machines in the office.All the necessary support will be given the volunteers to facilitate their living in the community, and making new friendships. He/ she also get language course and personal support. We will have also volunteer detail form and medical confirmation if it's available.
· How do you plan to ensure volunteer's insurance?
Each volunteer will have AXA insurance. As all volunteer are insured by AXA insurance company we want provide same quality, so also every our volunteer will be insure through AXA.Ensure that we have adequate and appropriate insurance for all stages of activity, including planning visit.
· The sending organization must ensure the participation of the volunteer on the pre-departure training.
The pre-departure training is usually organized by National agency for Youth in action program. We take care about his training by National agency and we will answer all his questions related with his preparation process.
· Describe how do you plan to prepare the volunteer for a long-term stay abroad.
We gave the volunteer an information on cultural awareness, safety and well being, relationship building.We gave the volunteer detail information about hosting place. We allow to volunteer smooth contact with his/her family to prevent his/her homesick.
· You can face several problems when sending the volunteers. List the type of problems you would suspect when sending volunteers and how these can be prevented.
In our organization we talk about possible problems during EVS and we found out few most important solutions and preventions.

C. Profile, background and motivation of the volunteer
· What is your vision of a volunteer personal profile?
Our view is focusing to young people with fewer opportunities. We want to do promotional and information activities at employment agency and motivate unemployment young people. We haven't any specific criteria for sending volunteers. We are preparing to sending also handicapped young people.
· Has your organization potential to send also volunteers with special needs?
We have contacts with organizations witch works with handicapped young people also with organizations witch works with minority. We will present this opportunity to this target group. We plan to cooperate with this kind of organization.
· Is your organization aware of the major priority of the program Youth in Action, to work mainly with volunteers with limited opportunities?
Yes, we are aware and we will try to promote to EVS to people with limited opportunities and we will do ours best
D. Contact with the volunteer
· Describe how you plan to secure contact with the volunteer (technically, periodicity).
During the European voluntary service we will be in contact in whole time with hosting organization and with volunteer. We will send them an email each week and we will call them in case of need. E. Follow-up activities
· Describe your idea of the follow-up activities after project termination. Remember that these activities involve also the preparation and submission of a final report with active participation of the volunteer.
We will help volunteer to write final report. We will organize few meetings with other youngsters from our region, where the volunteer can present his/her experiences from EVS. This will help motivate and inform local community. Volunteer will have permit for using all equipment of our organization for creating his/her output things like a CD, DVD, and posters. He/she will have also our support during re- acclimatization and help them to find new work and enforce his/her experiences.
F. Experiences of SO
· Provide the experience of your organization with sending volunteers.
Until now we have not experience with sending volunteers abroad. Till now we recommended to all potential volunteers an accredited sending organization in our region. We gave them basic information about EVS.
