Volunteer profiles and recruitment process

Risk prevention, safety and protection
SSI will not be able to place a volunteer younger than 18 years. The supervisor will take care of the volunteer and support with all kinds of questions at office hours and beyond that. The foundation makes sure that the working place will be safe and that the volunteer will always be supervised on the journeys with work duties. Emergency procedures will be explained in the beginning. In case of emergency outside office hours support and help will be given. A mentor outside the work will be presented and provided to the volunteer.
From our own experience we know that there might be challenges for the volunteer. Sometimes s/he will feel homesick, and sometimes they might experience it to be difficult to be in a new culture, to get integrated and to get friends. Through having two mentors, one that is more of a social contact person, we hope to be able to know if the volunteer is not doing too well, or if s/he needs support of any kind. Both mentors will have regular meetings with the volunteer, and should there be a problem with for instance homesickness, different alternatives will be discussed. Something that we believe may help a lot with the social integration is the fact that SSI has many young people involved in different projects, and there are also IKU local groups present, where the volunteer will meet people in his/her own age.

Motivation and EVS experience
SSI has not earlier been involved in any activities with EVS but is very interested in having an exchange through the EVS program. The foundation is very interested in giving young people the possibility to live and work abroad and gain a lot experiences, meet new people, exchange ideas and develop skills and talents in a project.
A young, motivated volunteer who is interested in international issues can probably contribute with a lot of new ideas, inspiration and energy to the work of the foundation. The volunteer would work very close with our aim group, young Swedes. This gives a wide range of possibilities to exchange opinions and to be an inspiration for youth.
