ACTIVITIES FOR THE VOLUNTEER

Opportunities, which we can suggest to volunteers:
- An opportunity to work with people, to learn from them and to provide them help which is needed.
- An opportunity to spiritually grow, improve social skills.
- An opportunity for self expression and a space for initiatives.
- An opportunity to join to traditional festivals, events, cams organizing.
- A possibility to work in a team of professionals, to learn from them, to gain special knowledge.
- Learning Lithuanian language, gaining knowledge about Lithuanian culture.
- Help and assistance in implementing ideas for activities with teenagers and youngsters - providing with material needed, serving for other needs according to possibilities.

Possible activities in SOS children's village:
- Organizing free time activities for teenagers: during school-year - activities in SOS children's village and assistance in attending evens outside the village (in Vilnius city). The biggest need is assistance on organizing activities for teenagers (sports activities, creative work, excursions, festivals, other events). During school holidays - assistance for educators in organizing activities for children.
- Taking part in programmes being implemented in SOS children's village - learning motivation, preventive, transferring to Youth facility programmes; more precise tasks could be delegate by coordinators of these programmes - social worker, psychologist. These tasks could cover assistance for profession in organizing working camps for children, implementing education for choosing profession, involving youngsters who are preparing to move to Youth facility into events organized by Youth facility.
- Activities organized as personal initiative, according to volunteers' hobbies, possibilities. We are open for all initiatives from volunteers: maybe they could organize sports activities for children, maybe teach them to play a musical instrument, maybe to organize other kinds of educational activities.
- Teaching children and youngsters of English or other foreign language.
- Help for SOS families according to their needs - tasks delegated by SOS mother or aunt, such as assistance in leading a child somewhere (e.g. shop) when he/she needs care in times when SOS mother/aunt can not do it herself, and such.

Possible activities in SOS children's camping place:
Organizing activities in "Karkle SOS children's camping place" during children's summer holiday.
All of the suggested activities can be organized flexibly, according to volunteers' priorities. In addition, there are possibilities for volunteers to organize follow-up activities.

VOLUNTEER PROFILES

Characteristics of volunteers, having which it would be mostly useful, meaningful and interesting to work in "Vilnius SOS children village" and other department SOS: good social skills, a will and ability to cooperate, creativeness, ingenuity, initiative, a will to learn, to improve, and also responsibility. A big advantage would be sports or art abilities and interests; this would be useful in organizing children's leisure time. In addition, the most important thing would be the motivation of volunteers - it is important for a volunteer to wish to work with teenagers and youngsters, to become a friend and an example for them.
