Spanish kindergarden is looking for 2 volunteers
The aim of the project is to promote multilinguistic education (activities using different languages), in order to facilitate the progressive integration of immigrant families and their children, avoiding the negative impact of the cultural change they are experiencing.
Kindergarten is an educational initiative of “Educación Multilingue”, a
non-profit association, whose aim is to improve the pedagogical quality
in the early childhood and family support in the educational process.
Kindergarten is a private but not commercial and non-profit
organization. It is funded through contributions from its users, making
exceptions for families with difficult financial situations (single
mothers, unemployed, etc.)..
Kindergarten offers an alternative educational environment for children
up to 10 years old and their families, offering different kinds of
activities according to the special needs and backgrounds of the
children, in order to respect and promote their personal development.
The educational objective is strenghtening their autonomy, sociability
and linguistic knowledges and preparing them for future studies in any
other educational institution, in Spain or in any other country.
The selection process is divided into 4 stages:
1) The Coordinating Organization Barcelona Voluntaria will be
responsible for providing information about the projects to different
organziations all around the world working with EVS
2) Barcelona Voluntaria also collects CV and application letters and
collect as much information as possible about the person interested in
doing the project.
3) With the help of the hosting organization a preselection will be
made and several volunteers will be invited for a telephone interview.
We are of the opinion that direct contact to all candidates is a key
element to see whether the volunteers are truely motivated and to
inform the volunteers apropriately about the project and the work they
will be doing. Furthermore the interview helps to see whether the
volunteers have a good linguistic knowledge of at least one of the
following languages: Spanish / English / German / Catalan, which is
essential for the project.
4) The sending organziations will be contacted in order to find out
whether they have a good relationship with their volunteers. All the
additional information about the volunteers will eventually ensure a
fruitful collaboration and guarantee adequate support to the volunteers
during their project.
The volunteer may participate in all Kindergarden's activities:
- Extracurricular activities for children from 3 to 10 years in different languages.
- Holidays activities in July and August for children from 1 to 8 years.
- helping with the different languages for school
- Talks to parents
- Birthday parties and traditional holidays (Christmas, Carnival, traditional Catalan festivals)
There are different groups for each language: Catalan, English, German and Spanish
The activities are carried out in the morning and evening, from 8h to 14h, or from 14h to 19:30 pm.
Volunteers will work a maximum of 35 hours per week, including 5 hours per week for language training. Volunteers will have 2 days off per month, not counting the local or national holidays.
