After school care centre:10 employees The "LSB SportService Brandenburg gGmbH" operates as daughter of the Sports Federation Brandenburg, sport and health orientated kindergartens and after school care and uses the competences of the biggest social organisation in Brandenburg. Its tasks are the acquisition of kindergartens and after school care organisations and providing them a profile of an exercise and movement orientated institution.
Brandenburg is a rural area with a poor density of population, few big cities and many communitis with less then 1000 inhabitants. In total there are only 4 cities with about 100.000 inhabitants. Besides that Brandenburg belongs to the states in Germany with the highest rates of unemployement. The rate is about 20%. In the regions away from Berlin and Potsdam the rate is clearly higher. Especially serious is the unumployement umoungst young people. She is in sparsely populated areas in the north partially 40%.
project area: After school care centre "Am Schulplatz" is situated in Potsdam district Bornstedt.
Potsdam is the capital of the Federal State Brandenburg und is situated as widely ramified island in the middle of well wooded Havelsees-chain. In and around Potsdam there are over 1.265 ha surfaces of water. Potsdam has the city flair. The culture and landscape is affected by its castles and its Parks. The Havelsees offer aquatic athlets any possibility. Potsdm is situated in the immediate neighborhood of Berlin. It is wel connected through roads, railways, flights and boats. Berlin can be reached in less then 30 minutes.

Project After-school care centre "Am Schulplatz". The volunteer should support the staff in the after-school care during their service. Games, sport and fun are parts of the daily occupations. The volunteer has the chance to teach the children games and songs from his/her own country. Further fields of activity are: - help the children with their homework - give support in the wokshop, the children's kitchen, construction room and/or in the sports hall - give support using the climbing wall and practicing the inline-skating. A propriate training in safty regulations at the climbing wall and using the inline-skates are some of the possibilities of education.
Through their daily work the volunteers gain insight knowledge of the concept of the sport and health orietated kindergartens, which was developed by the Brandenburgische Sportjugend in co-operation with the Potsdam Univercity. At the same time the volunteers support the exercise co-ordinator during the excercises and doing this they learn more about the pädagogic basics of this concept.

Profile of the volunteer: be interested in work with young children, be interested in sport orientated work in the kindergarten and in the after-school care centre be interested in the conception and implementation of sport orientated events and projects with children dedicated commitment and creativity (for example skills in Musik, sport and games, dance or general be on familiar terms with children. communicativ, patience
Selection procedure: all potential volunteers are asked to fill in the same apllication form so that every volunteer can be assessed on the same base and with equal chances. These forms are the base for an assessment/selection in close co-operation with the host organisation. Important is the motivation of the vounteer and how his estimated abilities fit in the project and how the project can fulfill the expectations of the volunteer. At the same time we try to involve young people from different countries. It is also forseen that we offer possibilities to young people with fewer opportunities
Partner organisations: the Brandenburgische Sportjugend participates regularly and organissethemselves contact making seminars in order to get acquainted with partners personally and with their projects. Good reliable partners are a very important part for a succesfull voluntary service.

The better the co-operation between the 3 EVS-partners, the enriching the experience for everybody, especialy for young people with less opportunities. Communication before, during and after their service between sending and hosting organisation is very important.
In each of the projects there is an instructor appointedt and further on a mentor, the leader of the project Kindergarten/After-school care. Beside that there is a regular contact with the head office of the Brandenburgische Sportjugend where Mister Cools act as a tutor.
Because we also work with german volunteers (FSJ = free social year) we will use the opportunity to create a peer situation between a german volunteer and an european volunteer. The german volunteer could support the european volunteer (supplementary to the instructor/mentor and the tutor.
