"Stakeholders in action" media project from Romania is looking volunteers
"Stakeholders in action" media project from Romania is looking volunteers
Millennium Center Association invites you in a project to develop yourself.
For hosting activities, our organization takes into consideration local
communities from all the regions of Romania, through developing its own
capacity/infrastructure, or through some promoters or through
protocols/ collaboration contracts with institutions / public
authorities, or through developing some initiative in social
corporatist responsibility area. Thus, we take into consideration
ethno-cultural minorities community, religious minorities, as well as
locations characterized by geographical isolation or social and
economical difficulties. The environment where we want to host the
volunteers to implement specific activities is regarded by our
association as a resource and a learning frame, situation that
encourage us to have a variety of options. For example, we think about
locations from Arad county (Covasant commune, Moneasa commune,
Sambateni commune, Siria commune, Arad county residence etc), Alba
county (Rosia Montana commune, Ciuruleasa commune, Valea Ampoiului
commune, Abrud town, Zlatna town, Campeni town etc), Hunedoara county
(Harau commune, Criscior commune, Certez commune, Bucuresci commune,
Brad county residence etc), Bihor county (Suplacu de Barcau commune,
Marca commune, Balc commune, Marghita town, Oradea county residence
etc), Gorj county (Albeni commune, Giurgita commune, Targu Jiu county
residence etc), Galati county ( Schela commune, Independenta commune,
Galati county residence etc), as well as other locations. It is to
mention that in each location proposed, our organization is present by
persons and activities, Millennium Center team having a very good
knowledge of the environment and the local context. For example, our
association has 16 socio-economical studies made by Romanian Academy in
collaboration with different corporations. Local characteristics will
be always taken into consideration regarding the preparation of the
activities as well as the preparation of EVS volunteers with relevant
informative kits and training courses.
In each of these locations the representatives of Millennium Center
Association had or will have meetings with the Town Hall's deputies,
with part of the local counsellors, with private sector
representatives, teachers and youngsters. Even though these meetings
imply a significant organizing and financial effort, we appreciate that
their results will improve continuously the quality of the learning
frame and of the implementation offered by future projects. In these
locations the roles and responsibilities will be distributed to the
actors of the project. Also, it is to mention that our association, in
collaboration with other interested parts, started a series of
initiatives of which the most important ones are the setting up of some
Resource Centres in Suplacu de Barcau (Bihor County) and Schela (Galati
county).
Our association pays attention to a series of other locations from
rural area where there were not any kinds of events such as hosting EVS
volunteers. We underline the fact that in the majority of the
above-mentioned locations, there were not implemented any projects by
non-governmental organizations until now and also there are very few
organizations in these administrative - territorial units, except for
the towns that are county residence.
The activities proposed for the future projects are in accordance with
local stakeholder' s conclusions concerning the local priorities of
youth involvement in voluntary activities, in agreement with the
interests of the local groups of initiatives and with the priorities of
Youth in Action Program. Also, our partner structures will organize the
activities of our future projects around educational objectives, in
correspondence with the real needs and expectations of the EVS
volunteers. For these reasons, the youngsters that wish to participate
in voluntary activities in/through Millennium Center Association will
give us their presentation, including their expectations. After that,
the information will be further analysed with considerable attention.
Our organization intends to host also youngsters that are coming from
countries that are not members of European Union. For these youngsters,
the bureaucracy process of obtaining the visa represents an important
obstacle in their participation to the EVS programmes. These volunteers
together with the ones from UE states and territories will leave a mark
upon local communities. Also, we take into account the possibility that
some fears and prejudices are possible to appear, but we are going to
solve them through common activities. In the small communities from
communes and villages, information, projects and activities enter
really slowly and even when they exist, they are on short term and have
not got the expected results. The youngsters from these communities
haven't got very many opportunities of spending their free time.
Through EVS projects we appreciate that more youngsters from these
locations will have the chance to get involved more in their own
communities, having also the positive example of the youngsters from
other countries.
Our organization will offer to volunteers learning opportunities such
as to develop / practice abilities, skills and to facilitate the
attaining of various knowledge. Our organization also want that, the
EVS volunteers who are going to be hosted within the future projects,
to benefit of a series of courses and processing of learning
experiences and of the activities' results as well as to gain
experience among the volunteers.
Millennium Center Association will create the adequate frame for
personal development according to EVS standards. Thus, our organization
will deliver to volunteers a Romanian language/culture and civilization
course, mentorship services, optional/facultative trainings and other
specific services.
The above-mentioned abilities and knowledge have an exemplifying
character, during each project the volunteers are following a personal
developing process.
The role of the EVS volunteers in hosting projects is an active one.
They are directly involved in planned activities in its different
stages (preparation, development, monitoring and implementation). Also,
a strong accent is being put on stimulating the EVS volunteers' own
initiative and on the importance of personalizing their actions within
host communities.
For example, EVS volunteers will be involved in activities such as:
Web-design and web administration;
Campaigns in local communities and in electronic space (of promoting a
healthy life, protecting the environment, preventing drug consumption,
becoming conscious of the risks of extremist attitudes etc.);
Making some documentary video clips regarding host community (customs,
traditions, opportunities of spending free time, working methods with
ethnic minority groups);
Consultancy in youth centers;
Raising people's awareness through campaigns about the importance of blood donation
Children activity in dedicated centers;
Activities in the kinder gardens;
Activities of social reintegration of the persons that are in risk situations;
Stakeholder engagement;
Animation activities;
Dance workshops, music workshops, aero-modeling, photographic and cinematographic art;
Photo exhibitions and plastic art exhibitions;
Specific actions in social corporatist responsibility area;
Trainings and study visits organizing
Realizing some promotion materials of the objectives with historical and cultural rich value etc.
Besides these examples, EVS volunteers can create/develop a series of
activities. Our organization is going to offer them the necessary
assistance (in planning and in further phases). To sustain all these,
we can enumerate the following activities: organizing some evening
events and presentation sessions where the volunteer can present the
culture and traditions of their state/region/ locality; organizing
activities in local resource centers or in youth centers; organizing
some cultural events or summer theatres; coordinating actions inside
youth camps; presentation/dissemination of myths and local legends;
making or disseminating of some publications concerning the implemented
activities; other opportunities from non-formal education for
youngsters.
In Millennium Center Association, the human resources recruitment and
selection process represents an aspect upon the implementing teams are
giving a lot of attention.
There are some aspects to underline:
Priority given to the applicants that come from disadvantaged category
such us: difficult situations from social point of view, difficulties
in participation to educational process, geographical and economical
difficulties, disabilities and health problems, cultural differences,
all of which representing marginality and even social exclusion.
Geographical and sexual balance;
The existence of an agreement between EVS volunteers' expectations and project's offer;
The recruitment and the EVS selection in this multicultural context
represent one of the most important challenges of Millennium Center
Association. The factors with a significant impact upon this activity
were the cultural particularities of a large diversity of partners'
organizations area of action.
The partner organizations will be consulted for the recruitment of the
volunteers, trying to consider the volunteers that are suitable for
indicated activities and paying attention especially to disadvantaged
volunteers.
Regarding the activities that are going to be implemented, our
association will develop a permanent consulting process between
volunteers, promoters and coordinating organization for the volunteers
to have the opportunity to get more involved in those activities where
they find themselves and where their educational objectives are best
fulfilled. Moreover, the volunteers will have the possibility of
choosing to attend courses from a wide variety that it will be
presented to them.
Because future projects will have as an aim to propose innovating
activity, we appreciate that it is not the case of replacing paid work.
In previous activities, there are already persons with jobs in the
domain, but we want to bring plus value in our future projects through
European Voluntary Service.
Volunteers are not required some certain skills, maybe the possibility
(recommended) of a minimum speaking level of English Language. Also,
concerning the recruitment process, our organization is going to fully
valorize the previous experience.
Regarding the local communities and places planned to host EVS
volunteers with fewer opportunities, our organization stipulated a
series of measures, resources, minimum required competences as well as
the adequate infrastructure for these situations. According to the
particular aspect that our organization is going to cope with,
considering the type and the level of difficulty, the teams of the
implementation project will take the adequate measures valorizing, of
course, the rich experience of the organization in EVS project
implementation and in facing numerous groups of EVS and local
volunteers.
Thus, our organization takes into accounts situations such us:
- Offering some special diets (vegetarian, lacto-vegetarian, without
pork diet and others according to the medical observations and
volunteers' requests);
Offering the assistance cadre (consolidated mentorship, special
courses, medical assistance, psychological assistance, nutritional
assistance as well as other specialized consultations in different
domains, according to the specific situation that it is going to be
faced);
Putting at their disposal or facilitating the access to devices for
special situations (hearing aid devices, locomotors handcarts, mobile
ramps, protection garment, IT&C equipment adaptors according to the
type and the level of the disability etc.);
Specialized trainings delivered to implementation team as well as to
local and EVS volunteers and also linguistics supplementary speeches.
Other measures that are necessary to cope with very difficult situations and that are facing some special needs.
