The volunteer will be received in the "département des Pyrénées-Orientales;" situated in the south of France on the Spanish border, Perpignan is the main town. Edged of a side by the chain of the Pyrenees and across by the Mediterranean, it is one of the rare French departments to offer the inhabitants and the tourists the possibility of taking advantage of the mountain and of the sea at the same time. Accommodated in Perpignan, the volunteer will have à disposition all the conveniences of an average city of 100 000 inhabitants, transport in common, businesses, leisure (museums, cinema, theatre, etc.). In the course of his stay, he will be able to discover the numerous historical monuments of the city and of its surroundings, as a strongly marked culture and Catalan identity. 

The Catalan Union of the Houses of Youth and Culture, after having coordinated several actions of the previous "Youth European program", wishes to invest European Volunteer field, in the reception of an EVS. This, to reply to a lack on this subject, only one volunteer is received on the UCMJC action field, in the "département des Pyrénées-Orientales".
Since few, we are accreditated as sending structure, within the framework of a regional policy of the Regional Federation of the MJC, unfortunately, information and direction of several candidates, do not succeed yet, for our organisation in sending a volunteer.
The experience of our structure regarding the international action field that it is: border cooperation, european or open to the world projects, our activity by the organization of European exchanges, reception of international youths of all countries or the organization and the participation in events cultural cross-border, demonstrate that we are conscious of the richness of intercultural relationships and of the potential of development that they represent notably for the youngsters.

The UCMJC is an ONG, gathering ten Houses of the Youngs and Culture on the territory of the Pyrénées-Orientales. Our network aims to coordinate the action of the MJC and to participate in the life of the local territory by the conception and the realization of own projects towards the public of the Houses of Youth and Culture.

Our ONG has a professional full-time and hires vaccataires staff sometimes. Our first target group: young people from 13 years old.

In a close future, we have in project, to host an EVS in the Pyrénées-Orientales, we would be the coordinating structure for the Council of département concerning this hosting project.
