another volunteer.
Training and learning opportunities:
There is a coordinator of voluntary enlistment in every hosting home
who will be responsible of the attendance and the advice of the
volunteers and in this way will be the link between the therapeutical
team and the volunteer.
In all moment during the development of the activities and tasks
volunteers will be accompanied and supervised by the professionals who
are responsible and coordinate the departments, and who will favour the
integration of the volunteer in the centre dynamics.
During the stay of the volunteer the Training Course "Attention skills

It is important to offer to the volunteer who chooses to carry out
his/her voluntary action in our association, a basic and specific
training which from a formative and interdisciplinary action tackles in
a global and integral way the multiple aspects we have to take into
account if we want to give a therapeutical and integrating answer at
social level to those complex problems.
A 30 hours course of theoretical training which will complement with a
practical part cooperating during some hours per day in the different
programs and activities which carry out in our projects.
Regarding the learning and the improvement of Spanish the volunteers
who participate in the European voluntary enlistment program will
receive during the months of voluntary enlistment lessons the
coordinator organization manages.
Role of EVS volunteers:
The EVS volunteers give an added value to the voluntary activity of the
organisation (all members are volunteers). They provide an
intercultural, community dimension.
Activities of volunteers
Volunteers will be able to participate in all activities which develop
in professional departments previously mentioned, always taking into
account factors such as the characteristics of the volunteer, the
previous professional training and the personal preferences;
considering these aspects as fundamental to get the volunteer to
integrate and to adapt to the dynamics of the hosting home and at the
same time he/she gets to get on with the group.
Some of the most frequent activities to be carried out by the volunteers are:
· Attendance to sick people and to those who are in bed.
· Help in the activities of physical rehabilitation and of occupational therapy for their cognitive rehabilitation.
· Participation in workshops (carpentry, gardening, painting…)
· Participation in the educative department: workshop of adult
literacy, out-of-school support to children who live in the hosting
home.
· Organization of workshops and occupational activities: magazine,
theatre, computer science, yoga and relaxation, sport activities,…
workshop.
· Organization of workshops and activities of free time (excursions, cultural activities,…)
· Participating with the others volunteers in the daily home activities.
E. Recruitment of volunteers
The life and the developed activity in our entity get thanks to group
and team work between volunteers with different dedication.
The characteristics of the volunteers which cooperate in our organization would be:
· People of any sex, coming from different countries in Europe and of any culture, race or religion.
· People with a minimum stage of maturity who are mainly raised
awareness and interested in knowing the problems created by the
HIV/AIDS and the drug dependences and in sharing some days of
experience with these groups, and furthermore, they have a motivation
to learn and/or improve the language and to know the Spanish culture.
· People with no required any type of specific training or profession.
· People who are able to assume the fulfilment of the dynamics and of
the living together rules (they will not be able to consume drugs,
including tobacco and alcohol).
Recruitment process
Will be carried out between sending, coordinating and host
organisation. Availability and individual characteristics will be taken
into account. The volunteers will read the project carefully and they
will be counselled by sending and coordinating organisations so they
chose the most adequate project to their motivation and concerns.
Volunteers need no specific training in social matters, but they do
need to believe in people and their skills, as well as to commit with
the activity they will join, as well as willing to work in a team.
Listening and understanding are important for us, as well as tolerance
and flexibility. This project is to be understood as an exercise of
international citizenship far away from paternalistic and/or assistance
attitudes.
To guarantee a clear and transparent process, we work with
organisations with experience in European Programmes, directly or
indirectly and collaborates with those with EVS experience and other
YiA Programme actions.
E. Risk prevention, security and protection
Once the volunteers have participated in the training courses
established (at arrival and at the end of the project) and given by the
given by the NA, as well as after the complementary training given by
the involved organisations, in which there is place for debate about
solving conflicts, the meaning of crisis and conflicts, how to face
them and solve them. Role-playing and intercultural games will be
proposed activities.
After our experience, we will provide a mentor in each home who will
assist volunteers during the whole project, so they are covered in
every moment. The mentors (with a lot of experience with international
volunteers) will carry out a weekly evaluation, provide constant
support and mentorship and will give the volunteers the possibility of
talking about possible problems. The volunteers will never be alone and
will always work in a team. We will favour dialogue and feeling at
ease. This will mean prevention of possible risks.
