Volunteering for Polish Theatre in Wrocław, Poland
Who are we looking for? - We are looking for a person who is interested in culture, theatre especially, but we don’t expect them to be professionally trained. Flexibility and patience is important as well as being communicative and open-minded. Any artistic interests or talents are more than welcome.
The activity lasts 10 months starts on September 2009 and will last till end of June 2010.
What are the main tasks:
We want to give to the volunteers the opportunity to know how complex is theatre production The volunteers can choose in which part of the process each of the volunteers wants to participate. The choice is very wide: costumes tailoring for men and women, hairdressing (wig making), shoe making, painting; workshops: carpenter's, theatre model making, upholstered, metal-worker's, electroacoustic, elektrotechnical. It can be preparing costumes, stage designing, preparing the stages outside the theatre (e.x. during the festivals)
The second choice is to help us in promoting the performances and our activities among inhabitants of the Lower Silesia region and especially among young people of the region. It will be participating in preparation of the promotional materials (posters, folders, web sites), delivering them and participating in promotion events organising by the Polish Theatre.
Where?
Wroclaw is a capital of Lower Silesia region situated in South-West Poland. Here live 750 thousand inhabitants. A big part of our region is mountains and this is the most tourist attractive place, not far from Wroclaw. Wroclaw is one of the quickest developing cities in Poland. The reason is the geographical location- near to the German and Czech borders. It draws many western investors. Wroclaw itself is a beautiful city with many historic sites and very friendly atmosphere. We have 14 Universities and Academies and very well developed cultural life. The city is located on the Odra River and is called Polish Venice.
