Volunteers Centre Skopje is announcing free EVS places in Macedonia
The project "VOICES" is located in the capital of Republic of Macedonia- Skopje.
VCS is a non-governmental organization formed by ex-EVS volunteers. As
organization, we are involved in the national project for promotion of
voluntarism and creation of law on voluntarism in Macedonia.
In the organisation except the staff members (who are also young
people), most of the members are students, who are trying to promote
the voluntarism in Skopje and all over the country! We have around 30
members.
The main aim of "Volunteers Centre Skopje" is to connect young people
on equal base, without difference on their nationality, religion,
political or social economical status. We would like to promote and
develop a multicultural civil society, reinforce the existing
democratic structure, work on affirmation of young people through their
individual abilities and particulars, and connect youngsters with
purpose for their bigger cooperation and collaboration. Another matter
is organizing seminars, lectures, sports events and different kinds of
competitions for young people with purpose for better knowing each
others cultures. We assist in exchanging students between countries,
organize summer and winter youth exchanges in order to help youth to
get better acquainted with other cultures, traditions and the values of
other nations.
We also put big effort on reducing narcotics, alcoholism, prostitution,
child and women trafficking, actions to prevent youngsters' delinquency
through organizing public debates and actions for struggling against
these appearances.
Macedonia is country in the centre of the Balkan Peninsula. Our country
in the past has been a crossroad for many people and different
cultures.
Skopje is the capital of Macedonia. It is situated in the north of
Macedonia and has a population of around 800 000 citizens, and thus, it
is the largest city in Macedonia. Skopje is also a business and
industrial centre. There are around 20 ethnic groups living together in
Skopje, with four different religions. The main religion is Orthodox
Christianity (70%). It is also the university centre for Macedonia, so
there are lots of interesting places and clubs for young people. Skopje
is also famous due to the fact that the well known peacemaker Mother
Teresa, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, was born here. She was
born as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia, on August 27, 1910.

!
Until now we have not hosted EVS volunteers, but like mentioned above,
our organisation is formed by ex-EVS volunteers who have a lot of
experience from their own EVS that they did in EU countries (Lithuania,
Austria, Spain, and France). We hope that this year we will have our
first volunteer who will bring fresh ideas, power, motivation and who
will be of great help in our organisation.
The volunteers will be hosted in a house/flat that will be shared with other EVS volunteers.
