The project activities will consist in working with children in Bacau City.
The Yap-Ro activities are runing at the national level, developing
projects in towns and in the rural areas as well, depending of the
programs and the parteners.(ex: Bucharest, Alba region, Rosia Montana,
Abrud,) The majority of YAP actions are being developed in Cluj Napoca,
the headquarter of Romanian branch. Cluj-Napoca (Hungarian Kolozsvár;
German Klausenburg), until 1974 Cluj, with a population of 311,400
inhabitants is the second largest city in Romania (as of 2007[1][2])
after Bucharest, and is the seat of Cluj County, in north-western
Transylvania. It lies some 426 km north-west of Bucharest, in the
valley of the Some?ul Mic river and it used to be the capital of the
historical province of Transylvania. The population of the Cluj-Napoca
metropolitan area, as proposed by the current project is estimated at
360,000. Finally the population of the influence area (periurban area)
counts over 400 thousand residents.[3] The metropolitan area of
Cluj-Napoca should be functional as early as June 2008.[4] According to
an official in the City Hall, the total population of the city is high
as 504,000, including students and other non-residents The ethnic
composition, according to the 2002 census, is:252,433 Romanians
(79.4%), 60,287 Hungarians (18.8%) , 1% Roma, 0.23% Germans and 0.06%
Jews. Cluj-Napoca is today one of the most important academic,
cultural, industrial and business centers in Romania. Among others, it
hosts the largest university in the country, Babe?-Bolyai University -
with its famous botanical garden, state-renowned cultural institutions,
as well as the largest Romanian-owned commercial bank.
Please explain:
" what you can offer to volunteers in terms of Service and learning opportunities,
" what will be the role of EVS volunteers in the Host Organisation,
" the activities in which the volunteers could be involved and the
activities the volunteers could create in your organisation. Please
give examples of typical activities for the volunteers.
Working and living in a local project in Europe the young people will learn about the diverse realities in this community.
The project foreseen for the volunteers is about exchanging different
cultures: the volunteer bring with him his/her own culture but also
learns a lot about Romania during the project
The volunteers will develop certain interpersonal, intercultural and
social competences, they will have the chance to learn another language
and they can compare their own experiences and knowledge from their
home countries. The young people also learn about different ways of
becoming active. Knowing tools and active people brings great
motivation to the young people. This can translate into own initiatives
in their community back home
All staff members will be included in this process, the mentor will
have the responsibility to keep in touch more intensively with the
volunteers and will meet regularly with the volunteer to check on
his/her progress and help solve any problems. They will also ensure
ongoing support for the volunteers. Leisure time programm and contacts
with the other EVS volunteers in Romania will be provided.Volunteers
will be given any training necessary for them to carry out their tasks
and they will have the opportunity to take part at national and
international trainings and seminars organized by YAP and its partenrs.
Efforts will be made to help the volunteer integrate into the local
community.

volunteers in order for them to develop and gain the most from their
EVS experience, irrespective of their background.
All vacant placements will be sent to all partner organisations of YAP
Romania and will be published on the 'evs works'-site as well. In this
way the placement is open for all applications. An application should
consist of a CV and a letter of motivation.
It is expected from a volunteer that he or she is generally interested
in the activity of the hosting organisation and the projects are open
to involve the specific interests of the volunteers in the activities,
in order to adapt the project content to the individual volunteer.
The Sending Organization should be accreditated within the EVS program
in that specific country. In case the volunteer identified the project
in EVS database and has not a sending organisation,Yap Romania can
recommend one of the partner organisations from that country or may
lead the volunteer to contact the National Agencie from hi/her own
country to find a recommended sending organisation, acredited within
this program.
Our project is open to disadvantaged people as in the next categories:
educational difficulties, geographical or economical obstacles and
cultural differences.
Unfortunately our infrastructure does not allow us to host persons with disabilities for a long period of time.
YAP Romania hosted through centralized short term EVS programs a meaningful number of volunteers
with fewer opportunities so we have the required experience in this extend.
The following needs are foreseen:
o Each sending organization and/or social worker will ensure a first
step in the preparation process before having the volunteer applying;
o Trained and experienced leaders will help the volunteers' during the project;
o On-going mentoring and counselling will be provided during the project;
o Assistance and facilitation for travel arrangements of the volunteers
(i.e. being accompanied, being welcomed and received at the
airport/train station)
o Regular evaluation and reflection meetings will be arranged.
The various partners and stakeholders of this project will be involved
in the different phases including project design and implementation. An
experienced team of trainers and facilitators will provide special
support before, during and after the project.
The volunteers will be integrated in the young people team and will
have permanent access to communication means and also they will
beneficiate of the permanent suppot from the organisation's mentor and
staff.
Also in cases of volunteers with psychological and emotional
difficulties a contact with a counselling institution is established to
provide on going support. In addition, the person in charge in the
resident country will be contacted.
Some of the possible risk during the activity
· Volunteers leaving the project.
· Psychological crisis.
· Conflicts with other volunteers or with mentors/other leaders
· Volunteers not able to cope in a new environment
Through the application process the selection panel will try to ensure
a detailed and deep description of the motivation of the volunteer.
We'll have discussions and exchange of information with the sending
organisation about the methodologies and training techniques, the level
of support provided by us as a hosting organization through mentors,
coordinators, team, facilitators, accommodation, programme, health and
psychological support, activities, etc.
