The project “Youth for society” will be implemented by youth and for youth. 4 EVS volunteers will help local community to run EU Info Point at schools with the aim to make children aware about relations between EU and Ukraine, European values and opportunities to think more globally. They will develop the network of Euroclubs in Donetsk.
Another part of the project is Club of Intercultural Navigators.
On the basis of hosting organisation, volunteers will organise club for
youth activists, local volunteers, students where they will be able to
initiate various activities important for the citizens of the city and
attract people to participate in ecological actions,conduct tolerance
lessons at schools, do fundraising for the orphans houses, socialize
with disabled people,etc. All activities will be described in the blog,
run by the volunteers.
The expected volunteer profiles:
First of all we expect a high motivation of the volunteers. They
should understand that the more they are involved in the project, the
more they win for themselves, for their personal development.
We expect empathy even for totally different cultural
peculiarities. We expect the willingness to solve problems together in
a team. The volunteer candidates are communicative, open, willing to
help other people and get new experience. The following criteria are
also taken into the consideration:
- Motivated for promoting all programs related to EU Info Point
- Initiating his/her own project related to mission stated for Center of European Cooperation
- Good communication skills (basic English would be welcomed)
- Sufficient level of computer literacy
- Interest for sharing skills/knowledge on youth policies
The role and tasks of the volunteers:
The EVS volunteers will work in Center of European Cooperation and
will participate in many activities but their main task will be:
• Run EU Info Points in Donetsk; organise cultural and artistic
activities, workshops with children about relations between EU and
Ukraine, European values, rights and responsibilities of a citizen of
Europe.
• Run the Club of Intercultural Navigators for youth activists,
local volunteers, students, youth NGOs; develop programs related to
young's people rights, non-violent communication, programs with
cultural themes, organise YIA program presentations, debates on topical
for youth issues,
• Organize street actions, workshops, promotions devoted to
social issues.e.g. Nature protection day, Volunteers day, day of people
with fewer opprtunities, etc.
• Organise presentations among youth and attract them to volunteer
in local public organisations by helping to organise charity actions,
exhibitions, ecological activities.etc.
• Assist in on going project activities of Center of European Cooperation
The practical arrangements
The volunteers will work 5 days a week, 6 hours a day. Their main
working place will be in the office of HO but also much time they will
spend on meeting and doing workshops with young people, pupils and
youth workers from other organisations. They will spend also one day at
learning Russian and studying materials necessary for non-formal
education.
The volunteers will have holidays at any time they want but the dates will be discussed appr.2 weeks beforehand.
They will live in a rented flat near the office. The will have money for food and prepare for themselves.
The volunteer will have two days off which they will spend partly
with friends or a mentor. The hosting organization provides EVS
volunteers with two mentors who can be real friend for volunteers and
with whom they will discuss any problems and questions which may arise.
The mentors are responsible for providing volunteers with linguistic
support during the first months of their staying in the project, so
volunteers and the hosting project will have no language problems. Once
a week volunteer will have a personal meeting with a project’s
coordinator to discuss achievements, troubles, future plans.
At the end of the project volunteers will:
• learn about Ukrainian public organizations and their activities
• be able to develop their personal skills and talents, get professional experience useful for his/her future employment.
• learn a lot about Ukraine and Ukrainian people, culture, traditions and mentality
• get new friends, widen their understanding of the world and improve communication skills
• improve his abilities in social adaptation and integration with
new life conditions will become more self-organized and goal oriented.
