Youth project from Germany is looking volunteer
Our volunteer tasks will include the attendance of children and youngsters, collaboration in the youth-coffehouse and in organising holiday camps, youth events, projects and seminars.
The "Evangelische Jugendwerk Blaubeuren" a protestant youth
organisation is based in Blaubeuren, a small town in the region
Alb-Donau.
The main application areas are: varied offers of leisure facilities for
children and youngsters, the coffehouse with cultural activities for
youngsters, the apprenticeship and further education of volunteers and
a number of cultural events. As an institution of the protestant church
it is also our task to minister worships and diakon aufgaben. Our team
consists of three full time employees, one secretary and a volunteer.
But prior the work is done by volunteers. Responsible for the youth
association is the voluntary board of management, that is made up of
young people from the congregation.
The youth association employes young people in voluntary service since
five years. Because of the good experiences we made with our volunteers
and the positive feedback from them and all people working with the
volunteers we are encouraged to continue and intensify voluntary
service.
Blaubeuren is an economic centre surrounded by small villages near
Laichingen. The city of Ulm is easily reachable by public transport in
about 20 minutes. Blaubeuren offers popular sights like the monastry
and the beautiful landscape of caves and the popular lake "Blautopf",
you can do rock climbing as well (look at the web-site
www.blaubeuren.de). There are coffehouses and bars, but also the
cultural summer-scene and traditional festivals.
Blaubeuren is a meeting point for youngsters of the rural area because
of the grammar school. The youth club and a wide spread of bonds offers
attractive programms especially for youngsters. There is also a big
offer of leisure facilities: swimming pool, library, shopping
facilities, youth hostel, pre-historical museum, boarding school and
the adult education centre that creates an atmosphere of a typical
small town in Germany.
The motivation of the protestant youth association is to admit
volunteers to offer them an interesting and varied field of work.
Furthermore the cooperation with young people affords new impulse and
ideas for the youth work and supports intercultural learning.
The tasks are very
diversify and affords to get easily in contact with other young people.
Openness, inde-pendent and responsible working is important for this
field of work. There is a scope for develop-ment to create own projects
but also the competent tutorial by a social worker. The volunteer will
do practical work and administration tasks. Furthermore there is a
special educational offering for the volunteer and meetings with other
volunteers to get in contact and work on projects together.
Practical activities are:
- collaboration in holiday activities and holiday camps (prearrangement/ workshops/ guidance of the
participants)
- collaboration in the youth-coffehouse (kitchen/ guidance of the pupils/ organisation)
- planning and accomplishment of events, actions and projects
- creation of the culture - and movieprogramm in the youth-coffehouse
- barservice in the youth-coffehouse
Administration activities are:
- correspondence
- management of material
- design of the homepage
- public relationship (textcomponents, flyer, poster)
- collaboration in boards, commitees and teams
Special educational offers are:
- basis course in leading youth groups
- training pc-course (word, internet, web-design)
- first-aid course
- special topic seminars
- workshops (creative courses, cooking, invironmental-protection ..)
- excursions
We are looking for young people who
- enjoy working with youth
- like working with others
- are reliable, committed and creative
- want to learn for life and their future professional care
The Kreisjugendring aids all young people that likes to work in an organisation of youth-work in the Alb-Donau-Kreis.
The volunteer should be aged between 18 and 30 years. Also he or she
should be interested to spend 6 - 12 months in Germany and be willing
to learn the German language.
The international volunteering should be used to make self-experience,
to get to know yourself, adept your own ideas and talents, be open for
everything that's new an power for something you are assured.
