Council designates 2011 as the European Year of Volunteering
On 27 November, the EU Council decided that 2011 will be designated the "European Year of Volunteering". The "European Year of Voluntary Activities Promoting Active Citizenship" in 2011 will be the next step in the Commission's efforts to foster volunteering in Europe and to help civil society, local and regional communities and member states to achieve the following objectives: work towards an enabling and facilitating environment for volunteering in the EU; empower volunteer organisations and improve the quality of volunteering; reward and recognise achievements gained in volunteering activities; and raise awareness of the value and importance of volunteering.

Commission launches a public consultation on mobility opportunities for young people
The European Commission has just published a Green Paper on "Promoting the learning mobility of young people" with the aim of opening up a debate on how best to boost the opportunities for young people in Europe to develop their knowledge and skills by going abroad. With this Green Paper the Commission is launching a public consultation which will be open until 15 December 2009. Responses will be gathered via an online questionnaire and by written submissions.

A new era of EU policies for youth - Commission adopts a new EU strategy for youth
The European Commission adopted the new EU strategy for youth policy for the coming decade. Entitled "Youth - Investing and Empowering", the new strategy acknowledges that young people are one of the most vulnerable groups in society, especially in the current economic and financial crisis, and in our ageing society, young people are a precious resource. the new strategy is cross-sectoral, with both short- and long-term actions.

European Voluntary Service: mobility opportunities in Art & Culture for 18-30 year olds
EVS - European Voluntary Service - is part of the EU-programme Youth in Action. EVS gives all young persons aged 18-30 the possibility to work abroad for 2-12 months.

Now I thought it would be very useful to build up some kind of network especially for organisations hosting people with fewer opportunities. We could exchange ourselves about the projects we have free and it would also be great to hear how organisations in different countries promote the ST EVS and reach the youngsters.

In cooperation with the Organising Committee we will host between 100 and 300 volunteers from Europe (including Germany!) during the Championships. The project will be realized outside any support programme like EVS, which means that the volunteers will have to cover their costs themselves.

Am inceput procesul de planificare la dezvoltarea site-ului. Avem mult prea multe idei si prea putin timp de trait :). Chiar daca inca nu am terminat planificarea, si sunt sigura ca vor mai aparea surprize, totusi pot sa afirm cu certitudine ca pana la finalul anului, cel putin doua sectiuni noi se vor deschide pe site.
